Mason Cox has returned to the senior Collingwood side after a long injury layoff and settled back in to his dedicated inside mid role, covering for the injured Jordan De Goey and allowing coach Craig McRae the luxury of starting his champion Scott Pendlebury on the subs bench last week. Long term it seems like Ned Long will be Titchell's replacement in the Pies best 22, albeit Long got his pants pulled down in the Suns game by a supremely confident Matt Rowell. The knock on Titchell has always been that he can't do much other than play inside, but in this Pies team that's all they need.

One-eyed Cox is a flop
At the crossroads between underwhelming and mediocre, Mason Cox didn't reach anywhere near his unforgettable 2018 preliminary final heights, eventually sidelined after round 20 to undergo three surgeries on a detached retina in his left eye. Cox returns to the starting 22 but will be kept under pressure by ex-Swan Darcy Cameron. Don't get sucked in by the American pie hype; Cox isn't a fantasy performer and should be avoided at all costs.
Don't yank this Cox
Mason Cox delivered one of the most impressive individual finals performances of the modern era in Collingwood’s preliminary final mauling of Richmond. The athleticism for his size is incredible, but as a key forward who supports Brodie Grundy in the ruck, consistency is unsurprisingly lacking. As with any key position player, Cox’s scores will heavily fluctuate. When you’ve got a stadium of fans cheering USA, you must be doing something right! Another year in the system and another preseason can only be positive for Cox. He’s worth a very late pick as bench cover, purely on potential alone.
Masonic stodge
Four stints in the senior side mostly backing up Brodie Grundy was all Mason Cox got in 2016 for a total of nine games, though he was lead ruck in rounds 21 and 22 when Grundy was suspended for hit out totals of 25 and 43. He did not get more than 12 disposals in a game. Cox will reportedly play more seniors in 2018 in a committee with Grundy after Jesse White retired, which is terrible news for fantasy coaches as he isn't startable and it destroys Grundy's value. He isn't worth using as a handcuff.
