Reversing the trend of 2018, Mark Hutchings continued his midfield tagging role last season but largely ignored the ball, dropping 26 fantasy points off his average. He played a stopping HFF role a couple of times post bye as well. Forward eligibility would not rescue Hutchings' fantasy value at this point, as his scoring rates are well below that required for that position. As a pure midfielder, his presence only matters to those owning the bloke he is sent to tag.

Tag & bag Hutchings
A move from a HFF role to midfield tagging did terrible things to Mark Hutchings' fantasy scoring in 2017, but he rediscovered how to both stop and get ball himself last season somewhat, delivering his best numbers since 2014. It was still not enough to trouble the midfielder baseline most weeks. Hutchings is not an every week starter due to his average and probably should be left as a free agent most of the time, but might be a spot start when conditions are greasy and/or against a high-stoppage opponent, as his good scores tend to come with a lot of tackles. Otherwise, ignore.
No scratchings from Hutchings
Indifferent form meant two trips to the WAFL early in 2017, then after the bye Mark Hutchings played every game on the lead in to finals with a role most weeks on the most damaging opposition midfielder. This completely destroyed his own statistical output, and he did not reach 20 disposals all season with three matches under 10. Hutchings performed admirably on some of the biggest names in the game, which is great for his stickability in the Eagles side as he has never been able to cut it as a pure midfielder at AFL level. Fantasy coaches will ignore his own value, and hope he doesn't clamp onto their stars.
