Marcus Windhager is one of that rare breed, the modern AFL tagger. Out of favour for years in the age of zone defence, taggers have come back into vogue for some coaches who just can't let the best opposition mid dance between the raindrops and carve them up. Windhager has enough notches on his belt to make him a tagger worth tracking for fantasy coaches, but he most definitely lowered his colours last week in the loss to the Bulldogs where Ed Richards shook him off with ease, consigning him to a forward flank. Like Finn Maginness, Windhager may need to reskill.

Marcus Windhager is one option for a tagger to go to Nick Daicos in this game, though coach Ross Lyon hasn't always wanted to give any of his 22 a singular stopping role, often preferring an all-court press. Daicos' qualities make this a more interesting decision, though, and while Windhager may not have the aerobic capacity to go with Daicos all around the ground, he could be called upon to match up at stoppages at the least.
Marcus Windhager has been used as a tagger at St Kilda across the last three rounds, first doing a fine job on Tim Kelly who registered only four disposals. He started the next week on Jai Newcombe who kicked two goals from 21 disposals, followed by a role on Cameron Guthrie who got the ball 22 times but used it poorly with a disposal efficiency of 54%. Perhaps we can give Kelly a mulligan due to his poor fitness levels and look at the other two games in figuring out whether Windhager's likely tag on Lachie Neale will lower his fantasy scoring appreciably.
