Levi Casboult has been a genius recruitment for Gold Coast over the off season, slotting in as replacement for the long-term injured Ben King and doing about as much as could be asked of a man playing full forward in a side with midfield supply of intermittent quantity and quality. His fantasy output is that of a classic key position player, too reliant on goals to be much good for fantasy usage, but he brings teammates into play with his contests including countless Chol chances over the back plus an increasing number of Rankine crumbs.

Levi pulls right lever
Errant kicking aside, Levi Casboult was a powerhouse for Carlton in his career-best season. Used in attack and defence at different stages, he finished second at the club for contested marks and marks inside 50. For fantasy, his best patch of form was as a forward, averaging 86 from rounds 15 through 19. With Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay under injury clouds, Casboult is almost a certainty to line up in attack at season's outset. Based on scoring patterns of years gone by, solely as a forward, he's borderline. As a swingman, he's best avoided unless picking him up as a free agent ahead of clashes with weak opposition.
Unlock the Casboult
It would perhaps be too generous to say that a fractured rib plus lung damage derailed Levi Casboult's 2018 campaign after round 7, as he rarely finds a rail to run. The fact that he led Carlton's goalkicking in 2017 with a return of 34.18 is more of an indictment on the club than a feather in his cap. That remains his only notable year out of seven. The Blues have their CHF in Charlie Curnow and a promising deep tall forward in Harry McKay, so the advent of Mitch McGovern means that Casboult was seen training in defence in preseason. His brief flicker of fantasy relevance has been snuffed out, so leave him as a free agent.
Levi breaks the chains
After a year where he was excused from ruck support duties, Levi Casboult returned to that role in 2017. Booting 34.27 from full forward which beat his personal best by ten goals, he lifted his fantasy numbers by over ten points. Some credit for Casboult's resurgence must go to Charlie Curnow providing a legitimate target at CHF, and assuming the latter's development continues, there is some upside. Nevertheless, Levi is still not startable.
