A long-term hamstring injury ruined Josh Smith's last year at Collingwood, where they had tried to convert him into a HFF after stints in midfield and half back. Fully 82% of his 20 disposals per game in 2017 were uncontested, one of the most outside-heavy ratios in the league, with a correspondingly high amount of marks. Adam Simpson has already made noises to the media to the effect that Smith may very well spend a lot of time at WAFL level, and the Eagles were lacking a bit in midfield depth. He will probably appear only through injury to bling-carrying stars, where he might be a decent free agent pick up in your league for a spot start.

No joshing matter
Things looked good for Josh Smith after a 32-possession performance in round 11, after a conversion from midfielder to half back the previous year. One bad game later he was dropped and only made two further senior appearances, with his spot taken by Jack Crisp. When in the side and in form, Smith is a decent starter, and he had three fantasy tons in a row before the shocker that stamped his ticket. Job security is his issue, so he's only worth a look if he regains his spot in the JLT or through injury to Crisp or Brayden Maynard.
