Coming off a delayed start to preseason last year due to an ACL rupture on Anzac Day 2018, Josh Begley did well to suit up for 23 games across two levels, including six straight senior appearances mid-season. He is usually good for a goal per game from a dozen disposals, though his tackle rate of two is low for that position. Perhaps we can give Begley a mulligan for 2019, as he would have struggled to get up from week to week without the fitness base from a full preparation. Bomber coaches will be tempted to rotate resting mids through the forward pocket opposite Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti in the spot vacated by Mark Baguley, so he will have to show some specialist tricks to get attention.
Barely bigly Begley

Bye for now, Begley
An ACL rupture on Anzac Day last year means Josh Begley won't reappear until around that time in 2019. He played the first five games without beating the forward baseline. Going into year three there should be some natural progression left in Begley, but the late start and the fact that he plays a role not conducive to accumulation means he should go undrafted.
Begley sniffs out goals
An impressive JLT game against Gold Coast was followed by almost a full season in the VFL for Josh Begley last year, averaging 75 fantasy points and a goal per game but kicking at 53% efficiency. He played three games late in the season for a total of five goals. Begley looks a likely type to turn into something good for his team. His role does not lend itself to accumulation, and he is more suited to bursts of action as with most third tall forwards. He should get more games in 2018, but his limited upside means he is probably not draftable.
