Jordan De Goey has not been the only Collingwood player to look like he has been suffering a literal hangover, trudging about the field in one of the earliest starts to an AFL season ever as if he's carrying the premiership cup on his back. He has been very fantasy-relevant at times during his career, and if you think Hawthorn's C-grade midfield is the perfect tonic to wake him and the rest of the Magpie engine room up, you might even get on board today as the Carringbush try to lift themselves out of the 0-3 hole they started from.

Not all green for De Goey
As the most dangerous target in a multi-pronged attack, Jordan De Goey again proved a handful for opposition defenders, kicking 34 majors from 17 appearances in a career-high fantasy season. He sat mostly deep forward with occasional stints at centre bounces, finishing as the eighth-best centre clearance Pie behind seven pure midfielders. He only played a quarter of football in the final two months due to a late-season hamstring strain. Collingwood will be taking a conservative approach with De Goey in his preparation, as there was talk of hamstring problems last preseason as well so it sounds a bit chronic. Setbacks aside, he'll be suiting up in round 1 and is every chance to increase his output as he moves into the prime of his career. De Goey is reliable for scores in the 80s with an occasional monster, so lock him away in the earlier rounds.
Go sign for De Goey
Despite controversy in the previous two preseasons, Jordan De Goey is coming off a career-best season as Collingwood's leading goalkicker and most dangerous target. His disposal tally dropped but his scoreboard impact increased substantially, though he was hampered by a foot issue through the latter half of the season. De Goey has not had a flawless 2019 preparation, with the club denying a hamstring strain. The versatile Pie is an extremely difficult matchup for any defender, especially with his ability to beat smalls or talls, or run up the ground. De Goey won’t be needed in the midfield much this year and will play the majority of his time in attack. This foreshadows a few high-scoring games, but also some quieter ones. He should be drafted in the middle rounds or slightly earlier, with every chance to improve his stats from last year.
Jordan not quite de groovy
Four goals in a best on ground performance against the Eagles in round 18 was the best of what Jordan De Goey can deliver, and he scored four fantasy tons in 14 senior appearances after a hand injury interrupted his 2017 preparation. He put in some poor performances as well, including 14 touches against Essendon and 18 in the Crows game, his poor form highlighted by low mark counts when he struggles to get clear of his man. It is the nature of the HFF position that a player like De Goey will drift in and out, sometimes for entire games as the midfield looks at hotter targets. Perhaps some of the variation in his scoring can be attributed to fitness, as he picked up some knocks along the way. Consistency is the key to lifting him up draft charts, and going into his fourth year there is plenty of scope for natural progression. A likely reach candidate in early rounds.
