Dropped after round 5 on the end of games with five and six disposal, Jeff Garlett was given a reprieve in round 16 and lasted until round 21, when he failed to lay a tackle, and missed the finals. He finished with 18.11 from 11 games, a far cry from 42.28 the season prior. Garlett is a victim of the trend started by Richmond to value small forwards more for their pressure than their pure goalscoring nous. Jeffie isn't getting any younger, and if he wants to fight his way back into the team he will need to deliver multiple tackles inside 50 per game. He is not a fantasy player in any case.

The ineffable Jeffie
Rarely going far beyond ten touches per game, Jeff Garlett registered his fourth season of 40 or more goals, booting 42.28 in classic crumbing style without too much in the way of marks or tackles. He went goalless in three of four matches against finallsts after the bye, mirroring Melbourne's fortunes. You know what you're going to get out of Jeffie: a highlight or two, a finish when one is required, but not a whole lot of involvement if things aren't going your way to begin with. Garlett is a match up play as he can fill his boots against minnow opponents. You would likely drop him soon after drafting him, so don't bother.
