The surge by the Demons towards finals looked like leaving Jay Kennedy-Harris on the sidelines in the reserves, where his form was subdued compared to his big late 2017 spurt. An injury to Jack Viney opened the door for a six-game run in to the finals... but then Viney recovered and took his spot back for September, so JKH had to rejoin Casey on their VFL finals campaign. He suffered major bone bruising to a leg in the JLT. After a move from small forward to midfield, Kennedy-Harris has never been able to make the step up from the lower grade to the big time and maintain his level of accumulation. Perhaps that's just unfamiliarity from his teammates, but that situation isn't going to get any better, especially with Nathan Jones moving out to a wing. It's hard to justify drafting him at all.
JKH goes MIA in the AO

SNAFU for JKH
Just when it looked like Jay Kennedy-Harris' career might be over a move to midfield in the VFL started paying huge dividends, with three games of 40+ possessions and 19 tackles in another to average 26 touches, four marks and seven tackles. He could not quite recreate that form at AFL level, with 28 touches in his first game in the new role then 14, 19 and back to the magoos by August. Kennedy-Harris had a dramatic year, with a preseason arm break and a midseason club suspension for a post-game drink. He stayed with the club and will have to fight his way back into the senior side from square one. His upside is enormous given those VFL stats, yet he’s not going to be A rotation in the AFL unless there’s a Gold Coast-style raft of injuries to the established mids. He is a speculator, in real and fantasy footy.
