Eight matches is all that James Rose has been able to muster up over the last four seasons at Sydney. 2016 was his best output, stringing together five games with an average of 73. His efforts in the NEAFL have been outstanding, including a best on ground performance in the Grand Final with 38 touches and a goal. Rose will again find it difficult to break into the Swans’ well-rounded starting 22. Will Hayward, Ben Ronke and Tom Papley are all battling with Rose for similar roles and, of those four names, Rose slides to the bottom. He’ll be desperate to add to his senior game tally, but that alone doesn’t warrant a fantasy pick. Pass.

Every Rose has its time
A talented forward, James Rose proved his exceptional ability to find the football and hit the scoreboard across 19 NEAFL games in 2017 with 46 goals and an average of 21 disposals. Rose has potential, but the problem for him will be breaking into the Swans outfit and holding his spot. It will be interesting to watch how he progresses, but he won’t be drafted in almost all leagues.
