Following an 18-game debut season, James Parsons' progression has gone backwards as he's fallen down the selection pecking order. While his four appearances as a mid-forward weren't awful by any means, the sample size we're given is far too little to warrant excitement. At best, Parsons is a midfield depth player who could find himself yo-yoing in and out of the squad as determined by his teammates' fitness. Lacking both job security and high fantasy ceilings, it's better to forget about Parsons altogether.

Parsimonious Parsons
After 18 games in 2017, James Parsons’ tally last season dropped to 11. He did manage to improve his possessions and marks slightly, but overall numbers remained too low for consideration. The crumber shared his time between the wing and the forward pocket. Parsons starts outside of the Cats’ best 22 as season 2019 approaches, so he’ll have to prove his worth in the twos for things to go his way. Due to both scoring ability and job security, fantasy coaches are better off staying away from this young Cat.
Parsons game is holey
Usually it's good if a player can translate stats from his junior career into senior games. James Parsons only dropped two disposals per game from his TAC Cup form in his first year at the Cattery; the problem was that this meant he only got it 11 times a match, playing a deeper forward role than the wing he had mostly started off in juniors. His fantasy owners in salary cap leagues got a bit frustrated with Parsons' play last season, as they were expecting more out of the kid. One look at his historical stats should have told them that he wasn't going to hit the ground running, as he doesn't accumulate. Leave him as a fantasy free agent, as his upside is highly questionable.
