The disparity between Jackson Trengove's performances as a defender versus a ruckman is night and day. In rounds 8, 9 and 22 last year, a sidelined Tim English meant Trengove took first ruck duties, churning out a 91 average. It was another story down back, putting the team first and rarely peaking above 60. Trengove has a tough task ahead of him with Alex Keath slotting into half back and English holding clear favouritism for number one ruck. Watch as Trengove fades in and out of the squad when needed, and don't waste a selection on him unless English is sidelined for an extended period of time.

Trengove hacks on
Moving from Alberton to Whitten Oval at the beginning of last season, Jackson Trengove enjoyed a steady campaign as a utility. Featuring as a key forward, key defender and finally as the lead ruckmen, Trengove provided the team with a resident Mr Fixit without being outstanding at any of the jobs he was asked to do. A consistent theme of coach Luke Beveridge’s charges, the 2018 season brought up more questions than answers as to where Trengove will be fielded for the upcoming year. As a ruck, Trengove has historically gathered a strong statistical output. Unless injuries hit both Tom Boyd and Tim English, the Bulldogs number eight will hold little fantasy value.
Trendy move for Trengove
With Patrick Ryder returning for Port Adelaide last season, Jackson Trengove played as a ruck/forward from rounds 6 through 19 for a goal per game, though he made his name in defence and is likely to start there for his new club. Trengove is only of serious fantasy interest if the Dogs' ruck stocks suddenly crumble and he has to be thrown into the middle full time as he did in the latter part of 2016. He's at least fourth in that depth chart though, so he shouldn't be drafted.
