Coming across from Geelong, Jackson Thurlow sought a fresh start after a 2016 ACL tear affected his final years in blue and white. We'd seen glimpses of high-scoring potential with a couple of 90s and 100s scattered through his history yet he failed to take the next step, dropping his average by six points. Thurlow presented as a smokey this time last year but didn't do enough to prove himself at his new club, presenting as somewhat of a spare parts man with a ceiling of the bottom six of a decent AFL list that he finds it hard to reach on a consistent basis. Fool me once... Let him slide into the free agent pool.
Stay low on Thurlow

Thurlow or spit
An ACL tear in 2016 halted Jackson Thurlow’s progress at Geelong, where he was in and out of the team and struggled to create any sort of consistency, despite indications of high-scoring potential. Looking toward 2019 at a new home, the utility defender will have to prove his worth in the NEAFL in order to get a call up to the ones. Thurlow could be a dark horse and might be worth a gamble with a late bench pick.
Downward goes Thurlow
The Cats persisted with Jackson Thurlow in the senior team last season as he resumed from a knee reconstruction, then pulled the pin after six matches at a rate of 11 disposals and 43 fantasy points. His second block of senior games late in the year was more productive, lifting those numbers to 19 and 73. Then he was dropped for finals. Glass half empty: Thurlow hasn't shown much form that suggests he can churn out consistently startable fantasy scores. Glass half full: that August form is the real Jackson, and a full preseason would set him up to reproduce it in 2018. At best, you can burn a speculator pick on him late if you liked what you saw in that small sample size.
