A key position defender, Jack Payne enjoyed an injury free season after having his first cruelled by persistent shin soreness. Payne will continue to develop his craft while he awaits an opportunity for the senior outfit. As stereotyped, key defenders don't make for positive fantasy picks. Expect no different here.
Constant Payne is not fine

Max pain for Jack
A persistent shin complaint put Jack Payne out for all of 2018 past what was a promising preseason, and had him starting the 2019 campaign on a modified program. Brisbane will hope that Payne can get on the track at all; fantasy coaches will not care one way or the other, at least not until they see his body of work on field.
Champers for Payne
Brisbane were well pleased with securing their academy product Jack Payne with a pick late in the third round, and despite some raps on his endurance they will hope he can develop into a useful defender. Payne should be nursed into senior footy with an apprenticeship at NEAFL level for as long as possible, and in any case is rather the opposite of a useful fantasy asset.
