An ACL tear in the 2019 preseason forced Jack Maibaum to the sidelines after he'd strung together a solid patch of NEAFL form as a big-bodied key defender. Redrafted with pick 19 in the rookie draft, Maibaum will need to work his way back to fitness before making any headway toward an upgrade to the senior list.
Maibaum needs some... luck
Leave Maibaum alone
Now in his third preseason, Jack Maibaum has been a pillar in the Swans’ NEAFL defence, often taking the most damaging opposition forward across 37 appearances. Unfortunately, he ruptured an ACL in March training. The big-bodied key defender had his sights set on a debut in 2019, but hand in hand with his role came a lack of fantasy scoring ability. Maibaum will have to hope he doesn't suffer the fate of Alex Johnson.
What may be for Maibaum
An All-Australian defender with Vic Metro in 2016, Jack Maibaum, adds depth to the Swans' defensive key position stocks, touted as Heath Grundy’s understudy. Don’t expect Maibaum to get picked for the seniors unless injury strikes a couple of Sydney’s back six. He will play out most of 2018 in the NEAFL and is not fantasy relevant at this stage.
