A competitive key defender starved of opportunities at the Power, Jack Hombsch proved an excellent acquisition for the Suns rearguard. The three-club player played mostly at centre half back, regularly limiting his opponent in the besieged defence. An excellent clubman and stout defensive negator, Jack Hombsch will be relied upon again in 2020. In predictable key defensive fashion, fantasy points prove elusive. Look elsewhere on draft day.

New home for Hombsch
Squeezed out of the Port Adelaide backline, Jack Hombsch joins the Suns who are in desperate need of an established full back to stand the gorillas. Hombsch has never been fantasy-relevant, and may not play out a full season even if fit as the Suns will go into play-the-kids mode fairly early.
Grinch comes for Hombsch
Perhaps knee and then hip complaints can explain it, but Jack Hombsch played only two senior games after round 17 and saw his place filled by Dougal Howard. This is one positional battle that fantasy coaches couldn't care less about. Hombsch has never been a statistical factor in basic scoring formats.
