Harry Morrison is a whipping boy for Hawthorn supporters, a player lacking a one-wood skill to take him to any sort of elite category, but just professionally competent at the jobs he is asked to do. If the Hawks are to complete their rebuild it is entirely possible that the higher draft picks that they have accumulated in recent years will go past Morrison to earn a permanent best 22 spot. He comes in today to play his role once again, never among the best but always buttressing the bottom six of the 22. On such journeymen are good footy teams built, for better or worse.

Harry Morrison has an opportunity to cement a spot at half back for Hawthorn in the first part of 2020 with a long list of flankers on the injury list, meaning his job security should be pretty solid in the short term. He has shown the ability to rack up stats in previous game, though consistency has always eluded him to now.
Cold on the Morro
A Rising Star nominee from 2018, winger Harry Morrison struggled to meet the standards of his second season. Splitting his time between Box Hill and the senior outfit after 19 AFL matches the previous campaign, Morrison's disposal, mark and metres gained outputs diminished. Morrison's season was finished early after suffering a broken jaw in round 20 for Box Hill, however he has enjoyed an unworried preseason. Rarely demonstrating a capacity for dominant ball winning, not an option of interest for fantasy enthusiasts.
Morrison still warming up
After an impressive debut in the concluding round of 2017, Harry Morrison was granted greater opportunity in 2018. Splitting time across half back and speeding along the wing, he enjoyed a breakout game against the Saints in round 6, registering 25 touches and a goal. Selected with the fourth last pick in the 2016 national draft, Morrison played in both finals, demonstrating the regard the Hawthorn coaching staff hold for him. Entering his third season at the elite level, Morrison will be expected to maintain the learning curve. His primary skills of ball use and decision making are two skill sets coach Alastair Clarkson is known to prioritise, making the youngster a prime candidate for an increase in ball use. Whilst he is unlikely to be of value for fantasy purposes in 2019, keep an eye to the future.
Warm up tune from Morrison
Harry Morrison enjoyed a productive first season mostly at half back, playing in all matches for Box Hill before a senior debut in round 23 for 21 disposals. This was about equivalent to his VFL numbers, where he averaged 88 fantasy points. Expect the former Murray Bushranger to earn more senior opportunities this season and continue his development in midfield and defence. Whilst Morrison’s future is bright, he is unlikely to warrant selection in 2018 as his job security is not high enough yet.
