Searching for greater opportunity following the move north, George Horlin-Smith was unable to succeed his ambitions. Splitting his time between the AFL and NEAFL, the ex-Cat was used primarily as a midfielder with negating responsibilities. GHS's struggle for form was apparent in the numbers, his disposal, goal and tackle output declining. Seeking a permanent role in the AFL side, expect Horlin-Smith to double his efforts heading into 2020. Rarely a convincing ball winner throughout his eight seasons in the AFL system, expect little to change. A Sun unlikely to see the light of day for fantasy coaches.

GHS on the GC, GG
Seven years in the AFL system at Geelong did not produce enough senior games for George Horlin-Smith to reach 50. He's been around so long that 16 appearances ago, he wore a green vest. His best-on-ground performance in round 5 against Port last year as a late in was notable for its astounding rarity, and it was followed by three anonymous games before a final dropping. On the plus side, Horlin-Smith won't have to compete at stoppages with Brownlow medallists. On the minus side, we now get to find out how he does when he's exposed as one of the senior players. Plenty of eyes of fantasy coaches will be on him in preseason for use in salary cap formats, and for draft leagues he also looms as a high reward speculator pick whose draft position will change on JLT form.
GHS needs more GBH
Just as George Horlin-Smith had won his way back into the senior side last year in round 14, he injured his ankle at training and missed the rest of the campaign. Across his career, he has reached 20 disposals about every three or four games, never graduating past the B midfield rotation. That situation won't be helped by the trade in of Gary Ablett jnr. Horlin-Smith fairly resembles the dictionary definition of replacement-level player, and at Geelong that's not good enough to get a consistent game in their Galactico-powered engine room. He should be left as a fantasy free agent.
