It was a fraught year for tall forwards at Adelaide, and Elliott Himmelberg was given his chance with senior selection from round 5 through 10. His first four games were wins, but he was dropped after his first goalless outing and appeared in the ones only once more all season. His game was the classic full forward interchanging in ruck, filling in for absences of Josh Jenkins. The good news for Himmelberg is that Jenkins was shipped off to Geelong in the off season. The bad news is that the Crows recruited Billy Frampton from Port, who is probably superior to Himmelberg in both forward and ruck play based on their trailing SANFL form lines. Then again, selection at Adelaide is often more about personalities than form. Avoid for now.

Maiden flight for Himmelberg
Well down the depth chart all year at a club blessed with tall forwards, Elliott Himmelberg was given one senior game in round 23 where he booted his first goal from five kicks. The departure of Mitch McGovern improves Himmelberg's prospects, but he's still behind Darcy Fogarty for that third tall spot and will only play seniors again through injury. Avoid.
Icebergs for Himmelberg
A broken leg in Elliott Himmelberg's last junior season was followed by a foot problem that struck half way through his first listed season in 2017 to end it early. He booted 19 goals in 13 SANFL games. The Crows preferred Andy Otten as third tall forward last season, and Himmelberg is only likely to make seniors for any length of time if there is a raft of injuries to those ahead of him in the pecking order.
