In the first year at his third club, Dom Tyson couldn't get up for more than four VFL games with calf issues, then a shoulder dislocation which led to surgery. At his best in his Demon days he was a solid contributor in the bottom end of the midfield rotations with middle-round value, lacking a weapon to set himself apart from the crowd but not letting the side down in any department either. One of a high number of B-grade journeymen brought in by North in recent off seasons to bolster a list full of holes Tyson is, like a lot of other recycled players on the Kangaroo list, meant to be a best 22 player in an even side with a high floor of performance. The only thing stopping him from regaining his best form from his time at Melbourne is fitness. A decent Marsh series will start his fantasy hype machine.
Tyson hit by typhoon

Last bite for Tyson
Once considered one of the brightest young fantasy football prospects, Dom Tyson has been reduced to filling gaps in the Melbourne side in recent times. At his best he is a solid B-grade midfielder without a trick to make him stand out from the crowd, but since 2016 Tyson has been on a steady decline in fantasy output and games played, often finding himself playing reserves. With the move to North Melbourne, the possibility exists for Tyson to deliver on the scoring potential he showed as a young player. If he is to play in his natural role as an inside mid and receive additional playing time, Tyson has a particularly high ceiling as a scorer. With that said, his worst case scenario is playing the season in the reserves. Keep an eye on his preseason and consider taking a risk on him in middle rounds.
Dom's a model subject
Though he ended up with pretty much the same numbers across the last two seasons, 2017 for Dom Tyson was a story mirroring that of the Demons: a bright first half followed by a slump, in his case translating into ten less fantasy points per game. A preseason knee injury may be one explanation. It was a shame, because Tyson had finished 2016 much brighter than he started it. If he can manage a full preseason there is still upside, particularly with the improvement of young blokes around him as the Demons push for a long-awaited top 8 spot. He should be available in middle rounds.
