Dom Sheed is one of a number of Eagles who had poor to non-existent 2022 campaigns, leading to a well-deserved 17th ladder placing a few percentage points off a spoon. Fantasy coaches are only concerned with the here and now, though, and while Elliott Yeo is a lock for many Dom Sheed is seen as a less reliable bounceback candidate. This is not the first time Sheed has been underpriced due to an injury-affected year; in fact he has had poor even years and regained 20 points in scoring in odd years every season since his senior debut. It's an odd year, so get on board!

Dom Sheed was a hero to Eagles fans before his game-winning set shot to clinch the 2017 Grand Final, but his tickets have just about run out and now he is part of a midfield copping a bit of a pasting for its shortcomings as West Coast slides off the cliff. Much can be blamed on injuries with Luke Shuey and Elliott Yeo out for much of the campaign, but that tends to focus the mind of the pundit on who does front up every week, and Sheed's numbers have dropped off more than anyone. He used to be fantasy-relevant, but it's hard to trust any Eagle for fantasy usage these days.
Dom Sheed has been a revelation late in the season, thrown into midfield to support a very undermanned engine room corps and more than holding his own. He hasn't quite hit the heights of Rory Laird who seems destined to stay in the guts after a similar move from half back late in 2020, but he's a more than capable option if Adam Simpson wants more of a defensive mid to support his superstars, in the manner of a Cameron Guthrie. Today will be an interesting test to see how much mid time he gets with nearly a full Eagles 22 to pick from.
Heaven, Sheed is in it
Off the back of his legendary flag-winning kick in 2018, Dom Sheed kicked on last season with his best set of figures yet with a disposal rate of 27 being five better than his previous best, plus an extra mark per game as well. He increased both inside 50s and rebound 50s while maintaining a contested rate above 40%, making good on an increased fitness base from a solid preseason. Eagle midfielders are given more time in the middle than the league average due to the team running fewer bench mids, and Sheed was finally able to take advantage of that structure with an engine firing on all cylinders to become a true inside-outside threat. The arrival of Tim Kelly is the only fly in the ointment, as the ex-Cat may pinch some centre bounce attendances. A solid middle-round pick.
Dom Sheed is now a premiership hero after his late winner in the big two-step last October of course, and he's fast becoming a fantasy hero as well after his stellar round 1 score. Priced awkwardly in salary cap competitions, he would have to turn into a top-8 premium midfielder or thereabouts for you to switch from one of your other guns to pick him up this week. Some think his ceiling might be that high, with the honeymoon effect lifting him to a higher scoring plateau. Are you one of the ones who took this risk?
Holy Sheed, he kicked it
Looking beyond the grand final heroics, Dom Sheed had an injury-interrupted campaign with a persistent foot problem dogging him through the first half of the year. He was then dropped to the WAFL twice after the bye, finally hitting form in August and reaching 27 disposals in each of the three finals... then that fateful last kick. Sheed has 10 to 15 points of slack to take up from his 2017 form line if he can manage a solid preseason and avoid further injury, plus a few more if his September form can be carried forward to the new season. Gauging his value as anything more than a speculator pick will rely on some eye tests in the JLT, where he will be a crowd favourite.
You have an ally in Sheed
After a quiet start following an injury-ravaged 2016, Dom Sheed wound up starting in round 6 to deliver ten 90+ fantasy scores in the next 13, then slowed down a little towards finals. His best work was done on the outside streaming from packs and delivering the ball inside 50 with a respectable 71% efficiency, though 40% of his disposals were contested. Sheed's numbers across the year speak of a man who could push further into elite categories in year five if he gets a full preseason to build enough endurance to run out a 22-game slate. If you take that slab of games and extrapolate it out then he still has 15 points of upside compared to his 2017 season, which makes him an interesting reach prospect in early rounds.
