Aside from a superb 2015 season, David Armitage has been a mostly underwhelming fantasy scorer. In recent years he has faced a seemingly endless battle to recover from back and knee issues, which have limited his games played and output. As a dual-position player for 2019, Armitage does hold some interest for fantasy coaches. However, the reason for that is he spent some time forward last season, where his scoring was execrable. Consider him with a late pick and cross your fingers in the hope that he gets his body right.

Lonely times for Armitage
Groin and hernia problems restricted David Armitage to two very quiet games in 2017, after carrying a back complaint through the previous campaign. At his best he's a hard-tackling grunt in the engine room, capable of 30 disposals on a good day with a string of nine fantasy tons in 2015. The Saints are due a bounce back, and a solid preseason to set Armitage up with a normal fitness base should be one of the main drivers of their resurgence. He will get plenty of hype from salary cap competitions, so if he performs in the JLT he will race up draft boards towards early rounds.
Armitage part of Saint army
David Armitage has been another example of pre-season hype that has failed to deliver. In 2009, Armitage struggled to break into the strong St Kilda team. In his three games he did not disappoint in fantasy scoring, averaging nine tackles, 91 Dream Team points and 97 Supercoach points.
For 2010 he was no star in the NAB Cup, but was still in the team for round 1. Inconsistency has been a major problem of his first half to the season. For the first four rounds he was up and down in both competitions, before balancing out in an average of around 70 in both competitions. This may not sound too bad, but without high scores in rounds 2 and 4 they would be much lower. After being dropped for round 7 and then 9, Armitage injured his knee and is looking at four weeks on the sideline.
Hopefully when he recovers, either this year or next, Armitage will be able to finally deliver and provide consistent high scores.
