Talia will tail ya
Another year, another top three finish for Daniel Talia in his primary stat of spoils, earning him a spot in the 40-man squad for All-Australian honours. As a fantasy asset in basic formats, Talia has negative value in that his presence depresses the scoring of otherwise startable forward opponents.
Celebrate the Talia
Apart from a thumb injury that required surgery to put him out for August, Daniel Talia completed another serviceable year as one of the league's elite tall stoppers, collecting the scalps of stars like Lance Franklin and Tom J. Lynch along the way. Talia's focus on close checking and spoils does not translate into anything useful for fantasy purposes, as he's usually the one watching the likes of Tom Doedee or Jake Kelly drift across in front of his contest to intercept.
Smaller tally for Talia
After skating on the edge of fantasy relevance in 2016, Daniel Talia's numbers cratered last season as he spent much more time following his man and letting the likes of Jake Lever and Jake Kelly take intercept marks. The 15 point drop puts him well out of draft league contention. Lever departing should not mean a massive reversal on that score, as Talia will still be tasked with taking the opposition's most dangerous mobile forward.
