Drafted from the Lions Academy, Connor McFadyen enjoyed a consistent season at NEAFL level playing primarily as a small forward, kicking multiple goals on seven occasions. McFadyen may need to spend a further twelve months developing his craft, as the Lions have small forward depth. Never a significant accumulator throughout his junior career, McFadyen will be safe to avoid.

I'm looking for young Connor
If you're looking for the end result for the player Connor McFadyen's body suggests he could become, you can't aim much higher than Nat Fyfe and Patrick Cripps. His capability leaping over forward packs and diving under midfield scrums translated to a contested rate of well over 50% at the Championships, with 16 disposals, four marks, three clearances, three tackles and 73 fantasy points per game. His NEAFL rates were less impressive at a goal from 11 touches. McFadyen has a few knocks on him, just to puncture a bit of the hype. He lacks poise at times and can look a bit slow. Neither Fyfe or Cripps came out of the blocks scoring at a rate worthy of drafting in a fantasy league, so even if he does get an extended run at senior level, he is likely to drop back to the field as he deals with much bigger opponents than he is used to. One to keep an eye on for the future, but not worth drafting at this stage of what hopefully should be an exciting career.
