Chris Burgess is at least nominally the best of what's left in the Gold Coast ruck department, in the Hot Shots 2 sense of the phrase. Jarrod Witts' injury last week plus Zac Smith and a couple of kids already in the medical room means that Burgess might be the next lamb to be sacrificed. As a lead-up forward he's a nice little roleplayer but as a lead ruck he is poorly suited and will likely struggle big time, if he lasts long enough to string games together. Anyone touching him in fantasy competitions must know he has significant downside, even if his price is very low.

Burgess is just a droog
Chosen as a mature-aged pre-draft selection, Chris Burgess enjoyed a productive first season at the Suns. Following a struggle to hit the scoreboard with one goal in his opening five fixtures, he was swung to a key post in defence where he regularly held his own against the gorilla forwards. The aim for Burgess in 2020 will be to solidify his role in the heart of the Suns defence. Primarily contributing through negating his opponent's influence, he is never likely to produce fantasy relevant scores. Look elsewhere come selection time.
Burgeoning role for Burgess
Picked up from the SANFL after a move from defence to attack resulted in a goal per game, Chris Burgess was one of three mature-aged players granted to the Suns as pre-draft concessions. Given that the Suns are severely undermanned in defence, it is more likely that they use Burgess there. Then again, they're undermanned in attack too! Either way, he's very unlikely to hit fantasy baselines.
