Two fringe seasons were followed up with a cliched third-year breakout for Callum Brown, forcing his way into the best 22. Providing both forward and midfield support, Brown edged his way to a 15-touch, four-tackle average. Brown might be the Pie most affected by Dayne Beams' return, with potential to be pushed back into fringe territory. He'll get his chances throughout the year but needs to prove his scoring ability before we commit. For now, it's a pass.
Can you rely on Brown?

Brown still a bit callow
Callum Brown made some progress in his second year, increasing his possession count and ranking in Collingwood’s top five for tackles. The club recognises his good decision making and poise with ball in hand. The father-son selection will continue to develop in 2019, but is yet to establish himself in the starting 22. Brown has not given fantasy coaches anything to generate significant interest just yet so should be left undrafted.
Brown goes up town
Two short stints in the seniors after the bye was all Callum Brown got as a taste of senior footy in 2017, playing a role much more forward than in the VFL, and his numbers were about half as large as a result: 25 disposals and 90 fantasy points versus 14 and 48. Brown will need and must be given much more senior game time in 2018. The fact that the Pies midfield is so stacked and they have more of a need forward of centre means his role will limit his output, probably lower than will attract draft league interest.
