Bailey Scott has returned to the senior North Melbourne after a year beset by soft tissue problems, dating back to the preseason when he presented with a calf complaint. Fantasy coaches know all about how an interrupted preparation can ruin a good player's run at a campaign and leave him either in the medical room or searching for fitness in the twos... or shuttling between the two as they never get their body right. Scott's best form is not only best 22 at North but would get him a game at every other club in the league, so he's not for the footy scrapheap just yet.

Bailey Scott was a father/son pick with a choice of clubs, since his dad Anthony played for Geelong and North Melbourne long enough to qualify for both. He chose North, and continues to choose North even though his free agency worth on the open market would make him a pretty penny and probably increase his chances of ending his career as a premiership player. He is quietly a very effective workhorse flanker, and he might be the beneficiary of Harry Sheezel joining Colby McKercher in shifting to midfield. Watch for him as a worthy POD choice for fantasy.
Scott may be some time
21 disposals, eight marks and two goals on debut earned Bailey Scott the first Rising Star nomination of 2019. He couldn't back that form up with anything like the same volume, and by round 6 was consigned to the VFL where he broke a foot bone in June which ended his season early. Scott's form in the reserves wasn't much to write home about either, which makes one wonder whether how far off is the day when he can recreate his prolific junior form at the higher levels on a consistent basis. Foot breaks can be nasty, and he's a candidate for second-year syndrome. Leave him for this year.
Scott out of the cold
A hard-running winger, Bailey Scott is known for his endurance and work ethic. He found the ball well at several levels last season, averaging 23 disposals in the NEAFL and 24 at the Championships. Scott appears to be a fantasy footballer of the future, though whether he is ready in 2019 remains to be seen. Keep an eye on him as a midseason free agent selection.
