Alex Sexton is in a whole heap of fantasy teams this year after a very forgettable 2023 campaign, and the sole reason is the new half back role he was given by new coach Damien Hardwick in the preseason. We have been here before, at this very time last year: Charlie Constable played two games to get on the bubble, then spent the rest of his AFL-listed career in the VFL, mouldering away on fantasy benches and disappointing all of his owners. Will we get burnt again by Sexton, who has never played a senior game as a half back flank? It's mostly up to Dimma.

Bringing Sexton forward
With a perfect durability record for the second season running, small forward Alex Sexton provided a reliable avenue to goal for the struggling Suns. Opening the season with back-to-back four goal displays, Sexton kicked multiple majors on twelve occasions and eleven more than the season prior. An improving forward with intelligent leading patterns, Sexton is an important focal point in a side that struggles for regular scoreboard avenues. However, the trend continues for fantasy production as small forwards rarely make for desirable selections. Avoid.
Sexton is not sexy
Apart from a tagging job on Shaun Higgins, Alex Sexton mostly started forward and worked on developing chilblains as the ball spent most of the time up the other end. His scoreboard haul of 28.19 was good enough to win the club goalkicking, which is an indictment on all concerned. Things haven't improved structurally up forward for the Suns in the off season, so Sexton will have to remain in the no-danger zone for 2019. Even with forward eligibility, he is going to struggle to reach the baseline for that position from week to week. Leave him as a free agent.
