Free agency can give some players the fresh start they needed, and hopefully this is so for Alex Fasolo who has produced three decent seasons out of eight. He finished his career as a Magpie with major shoulder and ankle injuries, the latter of which delayed the start to his preseason. At his best, he is a dangerous goalsneak who can compete in the air and on the ground. Fasolo also battled depression in his later years at Collingwood, so the fresh environs of Royal Park might do him the world of good. Carlton hasn't really had a small forward worth his salt since trading away Eddie Betts and Jeff Garlett, and in Fas they have bought a lottery ticket. His top form is only borderline startable, so it's best to wait until he gets hot to pick him up.

Hot or cold? Ask Fasolo
It came out during last season that Alex Fasolo is battling depression, though it didn’t seem to affect his game much, which was at the same inconsistent level it has been across seven seasons. He added inaccuracy in 2017, kicking 29.29 with set shots a particular weakness, his fourth 20-plus-goal season without ever breaking 30. Fasolo is another talented forward who has struggled in the failing Collingwood structure to find a plateau in his game. His good games come in between shockers, so even though his average is technically startable you’ll be taking a risk ever putting him in your lineup. You can get him with a late pick if you believe in the Pies in 2018.
