Damn, two 1-1 draws in our group. Not a good start.

I daresay the toughest of Chelsea's opponents in the group have been played first though and hopefully we can beat them next time in November, oh and hopefully we should be able to beat Maribor and Sporting easily.

Eh. It was Real Madrid. Been a while since we've been in the CL so can't expect too much.

Agreed. Hoped we would win but realistically RM was always going to win.
They are the best team in the world and we struggled to beat QPR.

Lucky we played ok enough for it not be a blow out.

So we drew 1-1 with Maribor but we're still on top of the group with 8 points and almost certainly through with two matches left to play before the knockout stage.

Only conceded two goals in 5 games so far for the tournament as well, including this past game vs Maribor.

I watched the SBS matches the past 2 mornings

Juventus v Olympiacos: 3-2
This was a great game with Pirlo opening the scoring with a brilliant free kick, Olympiacos then equalised with a header from Botia from a corner. I don't understand why teams don't put players on the posts when defending a corner you'd think they would only do it to eliminate any chance of the opposition winning a header. It cost Athletico Madrid a champions league victory earlier this year. After half time Olympiacos hit the lead with another header by N'Dinga from a cross after another set piece, then Juventus showed real character by kicking 2 quick-fire goals one being a deflection off the keeper from Llorente and a shot outside the box from Pogba.

Both teams showed great character during this match, however Juventus showed a weakness to defend from set pieces and I don't think they are in the running for the trophy.

Manchester City v CSKA Moscow: 1-2
Doumbia cruelly left out of the Ivory Coast world cup squad after heading the goal scoring table for the Russian League last season scored the opener in the 2nd minute. Yaya Toure then scored an outstanding free kick in the 8th minute to equalise, with City failing to draw momentum from this goal Doumbia scored another after an awful clearance from Clichy went straight to Natcho whom played it on to Doumbia. City made a few changes after the break bringing on Fernandinho and Nasri, Fernandinho was sent off after checking a Moscow player just outside the box after picking up a prior yellow card. Things went from bad to worse for city as the referee gave a yellow card to Ignashevich instead of Wernbloom whom already had a yellow card. Toure was given a straight red after shoving Eremenko off the ball, showing a complete lack of discipline. Nasri was lucky not to be booked after hacking a CSKA player after a short pass from a corner, this challenged could have merited a red card. Aguero was booked for diving in the box in the 90th minute trying to draw a foul from Ignashevich in a better moment for the referee.

City were poor in this match showing that they are not capable of performing in the Champions league, although they were unlucky with some refereeing decisions they were also fortunate to not have 3 players sent off.

City would have what it takes to win the Champions League. Then they have matches like this...
