Same as Quinny, bit torn on who to tip.

While I disagree to some extent about the first two minutes thing, I still reckon the Tigers will get up. Should be tight as..

Eagles will follow the trend and get the win with Cox announcing his retirement

Emotion due Milestones, retirements, deaths etc lasts about 2 minutes after the opening bounce then it's a game of football.

Every time a team win on one of these occasions people say they did it for that player. When they lose it isn't mentioned

It really counts for nothing
All GL was saying was there has been a trend this year that teams win when a legend anounces his retirement.
Saints won for Hayes that week
WCE won for Glass that week
Brissie won for Brown that week
Port won for Cassisi that week

And I disagree slightly with what you said. It doesn't become a non-factor because players are reminded at qrt time, half time, 3qtr time. At the end of the day it doesn't necessarily win you games, preparation/structures/planning/etc does, but players will find that extra bit to give when they have a higher level of emotion involved in that moment, especially when the whole team has bought into it.

Unfortunately that's just a romantic theory. I could name you as many occasions where teams have been beaten, even thumped on an important day. Like Sam Newman says.. If you need a milestone to get you up and about to play a game of football then you shouldn't be playing

Not sure you got what I exactly what was said mate. "At the end of the day it doesn't necessarily win you games, preparation/structures/planning/etc does, but players will find that extra bit to give when they have a higher level of emotion involved in that moment, especially when the whole team has bought into it." Only disagree with you saying it is a non-factor.

And all GL did was point out what has happened when a player has announced his retirement this year and predicted WCE to win, which would continue the trend

I understand but I'm simply saying it counts for nothing after the opening few minutes.
That's just human nature for emotion to wear off at the first distraction (getting the ball)
No ones running to a 50/50 contest thinking "I'll go harder for coxys last game"

Anyway..  The trend may continue regardless. West coast will expect to win at home. Should be a good game

i don't agree at all it's very similar to wanting to make you parents proud like if they rarely get to see you play live when they do you put in extra effort

it sticks in your mind and makes you want to give everything you possibly can

Think the Eagles should win at home and the Tigers should be thinking about draft picks and sending there players off for surgery , no good playing good footy now that time has passed  >:(
