They had actually been pretty average in their four matches leading up to tonight. This was a better effort but yeah, plenty of room for improvement still.

Don't know if anyone agrees but do you think Gaff is WCE barometer?? he played well tonight and it was the first game of the year the eagles actually clicked(even though we lost).

certainly a big factor and hence the tag, Darlings forward pressure and Gaff's run are huge parts of the game that aren't always seen. Best game for WCE this year and would have beaten almost anyone but for the best team in the comp at home. Despite the loss I'm encouraged that the 8 isn't impossible. Have to roll Essendon next week tho and then got the Swans and Dockers. Could really end up regretting that loss to Port.....
