The list of tributes includes retiring his guernsey and locker for 2013, and honouring McCarthy with a tribute match against GWS at AAMI Stadium in round two.

Other initiatives include:
- McCarthy's No.35 guernsey and locker will be assigned in 2014 to a player deemed by the club and its players to represent McCarthy's values and attributes
- An award in McCarthy's name will be introduced at the 2013 Port Adelaide best and fairest presentation, in honour of a player's off-field contribution (criteria for this are being finalised); and
- McCarthy's name to be linked to a cause and charity that will benefit from funds raised at Port Adelaide's round 14 clash against Collingwood.

The #35 is turning into a strange number for tributes. Collingwood, St. Kilda and now Port Adelaide have a #35 significance

It's a good thing they're doing to honour McCarthy.

Though not a Port fan, I am impressed with how the club is handling this issue. Cheers
