I did say "through no fault of his own" Zip.

Just seems a likeable guy and I think they need a hard arse to coach them. He could have done everything right and they just didn't respond. Maybe the next guy will be hard on them and they still won't respond, who knows...

I think it is a team culture thing.

But what do I know, I wouldn't have sacked him, I would have brought in a conditioning coach like the bombers weapon to work them into the ground over the off season.

And i would have told Primus to pick the 22 that seemed most committed and tried hardest over the pre-season.

BETTING on Port Adelaide's next coach has been suspended amid speculation an appointment has been made, with Hawthorn assistant Leon Cameron and Gold Coast assistant Ken Hinkley leading the charge.

Betting agency Sportsbet is not taking bets on the vacant role with Collingwood football and coaching strategist Rodney Eade and ex-Carlton coach Brett Ratten removing themselves from contention this week.

Sportsbet's Matt Campbell said there was a suggestion Cameron or Hinkley had been appointed.

I've heard also that neither of those two have even been interviewed.

I suppose we'll see in the upcoming day or so.

Maybe Fev is going to the club......... as coach :o

They were adamant on getting a coach with prior Senior coaching experience, hence I don't think Hinkley or Cameron will get the gig.

who else is left then?

Rodney Eade - pulled out
Mick Malthouse - gone to Carlton
Brett Ratten - pulled out
Paul Roos - doesn't want it

Terry Wallace and Matty Knights are the two men that spring to my mind, and although Wallace said he wanted the job when it first came up he has since distance himself with it, whereas Knights I think probably just doesn't wanna come back to AFL as a head coach, and I have not once heard his name in connection to the job

Gary Ayres, Matthew Knights, Neale Daniher, Neil Balme :P, Dean Bailey

I'm sure there is more.

Was the reason Paul Roos didn't want it have something to do with his kid? i'm sure i heard that somewhere

There is a whisper up here that Mark harvey may be the dark horse in the race.

I really hope he doesn't. He has been great up at the Lions this year. We need to keep him.
