QuoteWESTERN Bulldogs legend Doug Hawkins has called for a massive clear out at the top echelon of the club’s leadership, after a woeful first year under new coach Brendan McCartney.

Spinking

I think Dougie is probably on the money here.  The Doggies have a few older players who wont be around for their next premiership.

I read somewhere that a good rule of thumb with players over 30 is that they should be a chance of playing in your next premiership, or be guiding and mentoring the blokes who will.

Id stick with Boyd / Cross and clean the rest out.

Hawkins has lost the plot.

He says the recruiting is the problem, yet it's the fault of the management that has nothing to do with recruiting? Scott Clayton was the guy who stuffed up those drafts, and he is no longer at the club. The recruiting in the past couple of years has been good (except for Clay).

2012 was always going to be a development year as soon as we activated the Ward compo pick.

the trouble with a complete clearout of older players is the youngsters will have noone to learn off. Theres a lot of promise with the crop of kids coming through now. Boyd, Cross, Murphy, Lake and co need to hang around to help turn these boys into great players
