I better not chip in, wait until we win the Granny in a few years :P
when 2070  :P
59 Years after Carlton win the Granny  ;D
you know he said 2070
yeah i didnt say 2170  :P
Pyro the difference between Carlton and St.Kilda is that we will have 17 Premierships soon, unlike St.Kilda who will have to rebuild soon.

Junktimer

St Kilda also have 1 premiership and the most wooden spoons

Carlton would be premiership certainties except for one thing...

.... they can't win finals.

Admitedly, a surmountible challenge. The hope of other finalists doing a Steve Bradbury. But you never know.

In seriousness though, who was the last premier who didn't have recent finals success?

2010: Collingwood Prelims in 2007, 2009
2009: Geelong Premiers 2007, Granny 2008
2008: Hawthorn, Won a final in 2007
2007: Geelong, didn't make finals in 2006, but 2005 were extremely close to PF
2006: West Coast, Granny 2005
2005: Sydney, Finals success the previous few seasons (I think...)
2004: Port Adelaide, Prelim in 2003
2003: Brisbane - Premiers 01, 02
2002: Brisbane - Premiers 01
2001: Brisbane - Finals success in 2000
2000: Essendon - Prelim 99
1999: North - Premiers 96, bunch of prelims...
1998: Adelaide - Premiers 97
1997: Adelaide... Are they the last ones?

So by recent history, you would think Carlton are a couple away at least

Junktimer

i agree, i think that we have to make at least a semi or preferably a prelim before we can go talking about the flag.

for me, this year is a fail if we dont make the semi final

Maybe he's preparing for 9 Days time?

Just a play on words as you see it quite often.

Not one minor final win in 10 years, ouch that must hurt!

I mean winning a single final is not even a great achievement but to not win one since the millenium bug was big news and the 9/11 bombings is extraordinary.

What else has happened in the last 10 years? I see a new band called Coldplay released their first album, Savage Garden were still in the charts & Britney had her first hit.

Carlton's last final win in 2001.

Since then (2002 onwards) this is how many finals each team have won:

Collingwood: 11.5
Geelong: 11
Brisbane: 9
Sydney: 9
Port Adelaide: 8
St. Kilda: 7.5
Adelaide: 5
West Coast: 5
Hawthorn: 4
Western Bulldogs: 4
Essendon: 3
Fremantle: 2
Melbourne: 2
North Melbourne: 1
Richmond: 0
Carlton: 0

Can they do it this year?

(surprised the Pies top that list actually)
