Quote from: arbel on April 22, 2025, 11:30:24 AMYeah Butters looks like a target to get. Bont was huge my worry is with Darcy going down does he spend more time FWD? He's done okay in the past with that but could that bring his scoring back a bit?

A lot got rolled with El-Hawli and Gross being the subs

I think Bont will do ok, his scoring should be top 10 material. He'll drop a bit but when & how is the critical question. The kicker here is he's VC/C material, might be worth the premium to get those scores doubled. I'll assess next week, might even have a stab at Merrett who will be sub 600k. I need 5 midfielders from here so can take my time on the really expensive players. SPP & Bice are the cash cows for next week or the week after.

That was a rough week given how good the team is. Rookies are a bit of a worry, but that's everyone.

Hopefully you can get O'Sullivan or Moraes out next week and Hewett onto the field in their place. Possibly for Tunstill?

Even better they both come good and score well.

With boosts used up (me) these big Bont and butters upgrades are going to be tough with stagnant rookies.

Excellent you went early on Whitfield or Sinclair whichever one you didn't start.

Fwd Line and Def Lines are pretty much done, you're in very good shape if you can get a mid or three up by the byes, with those three rucks.

I think you have proved that the three rucks used in flex is the way to go. There may be better value in the money spent by just doing the "best rook" in flex strategy and spending the extra money for an extra on field premium.

BUT - that flex ruckman score is making you A LOT of points every round taking out the worst on field rooks core.

Started Zorko, traded JHF for Sinclair & Roberts for Whitfield, happy with those trades even though I had to rush JHF in last week. As you say, most lines done, just need to get 1 defender & 5 mids. Bice & SPP will get me 1 big player, hopefully one of these other rookies can push towards 300k so I can get another. Heart says Bont all the way, head says wait for a dip in price. Merrett is the other I'm strongly considering.

I should have got Hewett two weeks ago when you or maybe Mat mentioned him. Still value at $611, but yeah Merrett and Rowell especially who has been ultra consistent is excellent value. Then there is still Rozee who may get defender at round 12, could he be your last defender? Nick Martin D/F is another one on watch.

Hewett would have been an excellent POD, that was Mat's suggestion but a good one. Rozee with DPP would be an excellent pick.

It would be nice if you could sneak in Flynn this week but I think I'd take the three big ruck scores each week.

Hewett was a value pick a fortnight ago when he was still around 500k. The guys around that margin that I'm keeping an eye on are Cripps and LDU.

Cripps hasn't really gotten going the last month outside of the Eagles game. He has looked okay, but the Carlton clearance game hasn't been great and Hewett has had his own footy.

LDU and the North midfield have been treading water. He always seems to have a mediocre game against us and hit his straps a couple of weeks later. He should be a straight swap for someone like Davidson in a fortnight hopefully.

Warner, Stewart and Dylan Moore are the other three that will be in the bargain bin in the next few weeks as well.

Rowell flies under the radar and can pump out 130's consistently. His problem is he fades hard in the second half of the season with the rest of the Suns team. At 558k I like the price. He has had one score in the 70's and smashed out a 120+ score every other week

Merrett is another that if he drops enough he is a must have. He is playing forward a bit but is too damn consistent every year.

My worry is how do we afford the Bont/Butters types unless they have a real stinker. Those value guys are going to play a key part, it's just grabbing the right ones

SPP + Bice = Butters/Bont

Not this week but in a fortnight.

Cowan back puts a spanner in the works, the only other option is Brock, at least he plays late so I can switch.

I hope overlooking Flynn doesn't come back to bite, I just think having that cash on the bench instead of on the field could cost a swag of points.

Bully

Carroll named in the 23, good signs given Cowan is an emergency, he'll be playing for his life but at least he's playing. Knevitt also out, Gross an emergency, no sign of Campo or Clay Hall. I think next week needs to be a spring clean, Hustwaite is one to watch.

Mat0369

I'm still pretty worried with Carroll. Cowan is on the cusp of a return and he is the one that would get pushed out unless they swing Silvagni forward. I'm wondering if Paton is a good bet coming back in for the Swans? In your case probably not that helpful with his price, but one to consider.

I think I'm committed to a 99k player, Daicos is locked now, whilst it may only be 1 price rise it's still some cash generation if I grab Carroll. He may even stretch that out to 2 matches which makes the exercise worthwhile. To put that into perspective, he'll make more than Fin O'Sullivan who has been a dud pick for the most part.

Strangest week, 2396 and went down 2000 spots, some monster scores around the traps, the one thing I can garner from this week is that my midfield is too weak so I'm ditching Dale and bringing in Dunkley. Slightly sideways but I feel Dunkley is a strong buy at 529k and I'm needing quite a few mids. Next week I'll look at Bice to Busslinger & Powell-Pepper to Bontempelli or Butters.

Mat0369

I see that you have O'Sullivan, but if you are moving Dale, D6 becomes real dicey. El-Hawli and Travaglia weren't named this week and I'd be inclined to say that Carroll is likely out for Cowan who played VFL. Carroll stepped up in the last quarter and had a couple of really impactful defensive efforts, but the other 3 quarters he was way off the pace and his disposal was putrid. Unless Haynes or Silvagni miss time (both finished the game with their knocks), I'd say it's about a 75% chance that Carroll is out next week.

I'll keep Dale if that's the case, will wait on teams but with Williams out he may get a reprieve, 1 more price rise would be perfect.

The good news from this week is Bice & SPP will generate enough money to get Bont/Butters, I'm gravitating towards Bont now that Butters has shot up in value.

Bully

With Cerra suspended I'm trading to Neale, looking at my bench I simply can't weather a week, not this week in any case. Dale stays for now, will assess next week.
