Finals Week Three - Preliminary Finals

IMPORTANT NOTE - PLEASE READ

AFL teams will be announcing their teams at 6:20pm AEST on Thursday (Wednesday for Thursday night games)
Sunday teams are confirmed at 5pm AEST on Friday (Saturday for Monday games)

We WILL NOT be using a partial lockout, please read the rule below.

You are encouraged to name your full team at the start of the round and edit accordingly as teams drop each day. I understand this is not possible for everyone, hence why it would be preferred that people name their full team to begin with.

If you make any edits to your team, please do so in a new 'quote' post.

There is no loopholing allowed in ADT

- With Fri-Sun games back, you can name four (4) emergencies.

- In the event a coach either submits an incomplete team or fails to submit a team at all without contacting the admin, they will receive a warning/strike and their submission from last week will be used. Penalties for this can be found in the rules post (no sacking coaches because we barely have enough as is). It's finals so I hope this doesn't happen

Friday night FULL LOCKOUT at 7.50pm AEST

- Teams are to be posted in this format only

C: Player name
VC: Player name
EVC: Player name

D: x, x, x, x
M: x, x, x, x, x, x
R: x
F: x, x, x, x
I: x, x, x

Emergencies: x, x, x, x (any position, in preference order)

- HGA for the first team named in the fixture and is the lowest scoring player (raw score) on field.
- C is worth x2 and VC is worth x1.5
- OOP Players are worth 50% of their total score

It's a repeat of week one as fate would have it, but this time it's for all the biscuits! Win and make the grand final, lose and come to a crashing halt. Arizona have tapered off this finals series, being soundly beaten by Dallas and then by Los Angeles, to lose out on a home preliminary final despite a dominant H/A season that saw them finish clear second. Given recent form, and Dallas' dominance all season (not round 18) it should be no surprise that Dallas will be favourites for this match, but if Arizona get it together then anything's possible...

On the other side of the draw we have Los Angeles taking on Washington, and despite the Kings taking the W last time these sides met, keep in mind that was on HGA. Will that advantage save them a second time this finals series? It might have to, since Washington are fresh of a ridiculous score that has kept them alive in 2022 and might just make them favourites for this match! It's hard to believe that a side that started the season 0-6 would make finals, let alone top 4, but such has been the run of the Senators. Is this their last hurrah? Or is there more to see?

Predictions: Dallas & LA on HGA

Finals Week Three

Dallas Defeated.
Dallas Coyotes (1785) defeated by Arizona Scorpions (1824)

It was a brilliant season from the boys at Dallas who have been building solidly for the last few seasons, but their unbeaten run, and season, comes to an end at the hands of Arizona. A score of 1785 is massive, but for Dallas it was a down week, such has been their standard all season. They didn't have the ceiling to match Arizona who posted 3 scores above 130 to make up for some shocking low scores, while Dallas' lower half just didn't do enough. Arizona make their way into the grand final as the probable favourites, rediscovering their potent H/A form

Monarchy Reigns Supreme
Los Angeles Kings (1865) defeated Washington Senators (1734)

Washington's fairy-tale season comes to a close in a preliminary final. Not bad for a side that started 0-6! LA simply outmuscled the Senators on the day, with both captains posting subpar totals to keep things interesting. Washington may have had the higher ceiling, but Los Angeles was just more consistent across the XVIII and ultimately that's what wins matches. Still, Washington will take great heart from this year and should be contenders in 2023. For LA it's a grand final appearance against Arizona which should prove to be tasty viewing!

Congratulations to both our grand finalists and may the best team win next week!
