Getting rid of Duggan and looking at Bowes or Hurn. What do you think?

I toyed with hurn at the start of the season. Think the new kick in rules really benefit him a lot

Getting rid of Duggan as well and considering Bowes. I’m assuming he has gotten a change if position to the midfield given his disposal numbers.

Bowes is doing what he pleases in the backline, taking quite a few kick outs.

Not sure about either of these guys season-long.. Would rather play it safe in defence.

How are we feeling so far with defenders in terms of a top 6/8?

Lloyd, Ridley, Laird you'd think are the locks?

Then you've got Mills, Short, Stewart, Houston Bowes, Doc, Ryan.

Caleb seems to have dropped out of the race.

How do you guys rank these fellas?

Think there's a glut of options, wouldn't even consider a player not in the running for a 100 season.

A Class

Lloyd (110+)
Ridley (110+)

B Class

Laird (105+)
Stewart (100+)
Short (100+)
Docherty (100+)
Houston (100+)
Hurn (100+)
Ryan (100+)

C Class

Mills (95+)
May (90+)
Bowes (90+)
Jiath (90+)
Rich (90+)
Howe (90+)
Crisp (90+)
Daniel (90+)

Right now....

1. Ridley     133

DAYLIGHT

2. Bowes    115.5
3. Houston 112.3
4. Mills        110.8
5. Lloyd       108.3
6. Short       108.3
7. Laird       105.8
8. Jiath        103.8
9. Hartley    102 (1 game)
10. Rich       101.5
11. Houli     101 (1 game)

And that's all who are averaging over 100 to this point

If I could pick a defence from scratch now:

Ridley Lloyd - Best scorers.
Mills Laird - Midfielders.
2 of the best of the rest, I'd probably stick with short and grab houston or put the names in a hat :)

Forgot about Mills, still unsure however, would probably put him in C class to be honest. Think there's better value in grabbing the guys taking kick outs.

I think Bowes should be in the 100+ category. Looks to be doing what he pleases in the backline. Taking kick outs, intercept marking, high possession count, etc.
Still relatively cheap at around $500k. If I didn't have Ridley, I'd get him as a POD. Mills also another great option.

For now he looks good but I suspect the mortgage on kick outs won't last for the entire season. Lukosius the main threat, closest thing to Ridley & I'm backing him to start taking more kick outs.

Great insights lads!

I'm looking at Bowes or Short for Daniel this week. Bowes tempting, but feeling Short is a safer bet given the number of teams he's in.

Thoughts on Zac Williams in a few weeks as a D6 option

Too much of an injury risk

Don't do it to yourself

Witherden?
What’s the deal, he’s got the ability, why can this guy hold down a spot?
Is he likely to make way when Hurn returns?
