At this stage I have both Dunkley and Bontempelli in my team, but thought I'd look up all three's scores to see if they score well in the same game, and whether there is a real case to start all 3.

Rnd 1: 132 (Macrae), 98 (Dunkley), 158 (Bontempelli)
Rnd 2: 127 (M), 76 (D), 97 (B)
Rnd 3: 139 (M), 80 (D), 124 (B)
Rnd 4: 110 (M), 73 (D), 127 (B)
Rnd 5: 97 (M), 95 (D), 104 (B)
Rnd 6: 85 (M), 93 (D), 95 (B)
Rnd 7: 107 (M), 134 (D), 146 (B)
Rnd 8: 135 (M), 136 (D), 99 (B)
Rnd 9: 124 (M), 88 (D), 96 (B)
Rnd 10: 105 (M), 130 (D), 118 (B)
Rnd 11: 84 (M), 119 (D), 73 (B)
Rnd 12: Bye
Rnd 13: 150 (M), 173 (D), 112 (B)
Rnd 14: 148 (M), 101 (D), 109 (B)
Rnd 15: 142 (M), 111 (D), 130 (B)
Rnd 16: 116 (M), 103 (D), 146 (B)
Rnd 17: 120 (M), 202 (D), 93 (B)
Rnd 18: 120 (M), 120 (D), 70 (B)
Rnd 19: 153 (M), 88 (D), 132 (B)
Rnd 20: 155 (M), 107 (D), 166 (B)
Rnd 21: 137 (M), 153 (D), 99 (B)
Rnd 22: 105 (M), 169 (D), 90 (B)
Rnd 23: 119 (M), 106 (D), 140 (B)

From this, we can see that all 3 went 100+ in 8 games. 2 went 100+ in 9 games, 1 went 100+ in 4 games, and only once did none of them ton up.

Of the games that 2 or more tonned up, not once did all 3 go 120+, but 8 times 2 of them went 130+ in a game, and twice 2 of them went 150+. And in the games that only one tonned up, not once did that player go 130+.

For the record, the Dogs lost 4/5 games where one or less tonned up.

Personally, I don't see a fully fit Libba affecting any of their scores. These 3 are way too good to be playing anywhere else for long periods of time.

Taking all of this into consideration, I don't think we can start all 3 as it's more than likely one won't ton up.

Although, I think we can easily start with two of them. Looking at the stats, I'm going to try a reshuffle and try fit in Macrae and Dunkley. If you only want to go with one, you really can't go wrong with any of them imo.

I have had Macrae and Bont in my team since day one. Both will always start in the guts, whilst Dunkley has been moved around during the season. Bont only had two scores under 80 and is now captain.

Dunk played forward early. I think he will be an even bigger breakout and must have pig this year. Got Dunk and Macrae atm.

It all depends on Libba. No Libba and Dunkley is a must start.

Peter

What they do with Wallis is also the key

Heraldsun doesn't have Libba in their best 22. And tbh neither do I. Players like Lipinski, Bailey Smith and Sam Lloyd have all gone past him.

I think Wallis gets used as the 7th/8th midfielder. Don't think he'll affect Dunkley too much.

Ringo

Hard to see the Dogs moving Dunkley after his insane finish last season.  Wallis may be now more outside,

Libba may make little difference in my opinion.

Im finding this really hard. I have macrae atm but keen on him and dunks

Bonts will relish the captaincy, so whilst I won't be starting him, I think you could easily start all 3. I think Dogs will be top 6 easily, and with them being their top 3 players l, they should dominate the scoring again.

I’ve got them all atm. It’s funny how people don’t think it’s a good idea to have 3 from one team on the one line, even though their scores from last year show it works. If they all went the same, they’d be top 8, and they ALL played 22 games...

Ahhh, the same team question/debate - I've never understood it either

These 3 could replicate the glory days of Swan/Pendles/Beams

I don't see a problem starting all 3, and as you say, they're durable and barely miss games, which is a huge tick when their competition to start in our sides is the likes of Titch, Kelly, Fyfe etc who appear to have more risk in terms of missing games

Peter

The other issue to consider is all R14 byes

Money Shot

If someone has the post bye averages for these 3 players that would be appreciated.

33 scores
28 over 100
(8 scores 150+)
(15 scores 130+)
5 under 100
2 under 90
1 under 80 (low of 70)

You get what you pay for (and more) if they deliver that. Also as noted, no rookie replacement scores to drag down 'real' average.
