Don’t think I’ve been as excited for a season as I am with 2020. We finally have a really strong starting 22 but more importantly have some really good and deep depth for the up coming season.

2020 Round 1 Team
FB: Marchbank, Jones, Plowman
HB: Docherty, Weitering, Newman
C:   Petrevski-Seton, Murphy, Walsh
HF: Fisher, C. Curnow, Martin
FF: McGovern, McKay, Betts
R:   Kreuzer, Cripps, E. Curnow

I/C: Dow, Setterfield, Simpson (7th Defender), Kennedy (7th Forward)

Small/Medium defender depth: Stocker, Williamson
Tall defender depth: Macraedie, Goddard, Silvanghi
Midfielder depth: O’Brien, Gibbons, Newnes, Kemp (inj), Philp, Ramsay, Cottrell
Small/Medium forward depth: Cunningham, Silvanghi, Lang, Polson, Owies, Honey, Phillips
Tall forward depth: Casboult, O’Dwyer
Ruck depth: De Koning, Pittonet

It’s good looking at players I don’t have in my best 22 and knowing that they are still very capable at AFL level.

Paddy Dow is my breakout candidate for the upcoming season.

Round 1 best 22 will look something like this

Plowman, Jones, Newman
Doc, Weitering, Simmo
Walsh, Cripps, Willo
Silvagni, Levi, McGovern
Betts, McKay, Martin
Kreuz, Murphy, Curnow
Samo, Marchbank, Fisher, Setters

Cuningham, Newnes, Gibbons, Dow emergencies. To be honest I am thinking Samo and Marchbank might be in doubt for round 1 so Cuningham and Newnes come in regardless. Samo is carrying a quad injury at the moment and Marchbank should be eased back in. I think Setters is fighting for a spot with Cuningham right now, Newnes is pushing to grab a wing spot and Gibbons probably deserves to be in the rotation as well. Plowman is the other that would be feeling the pressure with us having the three talls, Levi and Doc back.
