Welcome everyone to the AXV Official Trade Thread for the 2016/17 off-season!

TRADING RULES

TRADING

There will be two trade periods in each season.

Post Season.

AN AGREED TIME AFTER COMPLETION OF THE SEASON BEFORE THE NATIONAL DRAFT OF THE FOLLOWING SEASON

Window to trade players, draft picks. Closes before the National Draft.

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF LIST CHANGES = 10

Trades may be uneven in this trade window in regards to how many picks and players are swapped.

A team may trade a player and a draft pick swap for a player and a draft pick swap

( e.g Boyd and pick 14 for Swallow and pick 2)

Pre Season.

AN AGREED TIME AFTER THE PRESEASON/ROOKIE DRAFT PRIOR TO THE START OF THE SEASON

Window to trade players only.

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF LIST CHANGES = 5

A team must trade the same number of players in and out i.e 1 for 1 , 2 for 2.... ect. ect... in this trade window. Trades must also be for players on the same list, i.e rookie for rookie

TRADE APPROVAL

Competition admin decides whether a trade is passed or blocked. That decision is final as voted in at the end of last season.

Trades must be confirmed by coaches from all clubs participating in the trade in this thread, or by pm to the administrator before it will passed or blocked.

Trade Period 1 Opens - Wednesday 30th August 9am
Trade Period 1 Closes - Sunday 19th November 11:59pm

NOTE: The rookie list will no longer be in existence for season 2018. There will be no need to worry about what list a player goes on to.

Rids

#2
APPROVED TRADES - TRADE PERIOD 1

TRADE #1 - Approved
Elephants give: Sam Day
Gazelles give: Nat 44

Reasoning: simple injured player with potential that should be suited to this scoring format for a national pick

TRADE #2 - Approved
Taiwan give: Mitch Honeychurch
Tibet give: Nat 13

Revised Trade:
Taiwan give: Mitch Honeychurch + Nat 45
Tibet give: Nat 13

Reasoning: Honeychurch has scoring potential when he plays. While nat 13 is a lot to pay for a kid who plays a lot of VFL football, nat 45 levels it out enough to pass.

TRADE #3 - Approved
Tibet Give: Jasper Pittard
Elephants give: Travis Boak

Reasoning: Boak should be a fwd in 2018 and his average will make him very very handy. Pittard averages a less as a defender but is 3 years younger than Boak. Trade while isn't even, it isn't enough to not pass.

TRADE #4 - Approved
Tigers give: C Rioli
Gazelles give A M-Tippa + Nat 28

Reasoning: Cyril went 110 in 2015 and 124 in 2016 in AXV. Tippa averaged mid 90s this year but should improve. Nat pick and difference in age levels the trade out.

TRADE #5 - Approved
Kathmandu gives: Zac Clarke
Turkey gives: Nat 60

Reasoning: Spec pick for a spec player trade. Easy Pass

TRADE #6
Vietnam Give - Alex Witherden + nat 6
Bangkok Give - Brad Crouch + Sam Naismith

Revised trade: Approved
Vietnam Give - Alex Witherden + nat 6
Bangkok Give - Brad Crouch + Sam Naismith + nat 34

Reasoning: - The difference between the below 2 parts of this trade, level it out enough to pass.
Crouch > Witherden Crouch is still young and if he stays on the park is an absolute gun as we have seen in the second half of the year averaging 145 since the bye rounds. Witherden has started his career with a bang and has potential but there is a gap between the 2 players.
nat 6 > Naismith + nat 34 - Naismith is a clear number 1 ruck and is still young enough at 25 to have a good 5 to 8 years in him. He doesn't make up the difference between nat 34 and nat 6 however.

TRADE #7 - Approved
Sri Lanka give: Declan Mountford, NAT Picks 31 and 47
Tigers give: Brett Deledio

Reasoning: Lids is still a premium forward when fit averaging 120+ in 2015 and 2016. His last 2 games this year he has shown he still has very similar scoring potential. Mountford averaged 80 in what was pretty much his first senior football season at North. Whilst it isn't huge the potential for DPP in the future as well as the 2 picks and the injury concerns for Deledio, level the trade enough to be passed.

TRADE #8
Bangladesh give - James Aish + Aaron Francis + Nat 22
Turkey give - Nat 11 + Nat 76

Revised trade: Approved
Bangladesh give: James Aish + Aaron Francis + Nat 22
Turkey give: Nat 11 + R10 + Nat 76

Reasoning: This trade is not even but trades do not need to be even to pass. A lot of discussion was had around this trade and whether it should pass. At the end of the day, it does come down to the opinion of the coaches involved. One coach clearly doesn't rate Aaron Francis and/or James Aish (note: Francis was a direct swap for Tom McDonald in another XV league) and feels that the pick upgrade and rook pick 10 will net them better options than the 2 previous top 10 AFL draft selections as well as nat pick 22. Passing this trade as goodwill for the teams involved.

TRADE #9 - Approved
Taiwan give: Nick Vlastuin + Jayden Hunt + N13
Laos give: Tom McDonald + Liam Shiels + N16

Reasoning: 2 good kids in Hunt and Vlastuin who are starting to show some seriously good scoring potential. Both Tom McDonald and Liam Shiels have been somewhat underwhelming in 2017. Pick swap levels out the trade. Passed

TRADE #10
Folders give: Dan Venables + nat 42
Crabs give: Hugh Greenwood + nat 66

Revised trade: Approved
Folders give: Dan Venables + nat 42 + rook 24
Crabs give: Hugh Greenwood + nat 66

Reasoning: Rook pick #24 added to the original trade and that balances out the trade enough to be passed. Still believe Folders win the trade but not enough to neg.

TRADE #11 - Approved
Mongolia give: National Pick #53
Taiwan give: Nick Graham

Reasoning: Spec pick for a spec player. Easy pass.

TRADE #12 - Approved
Gazelles give: Rook 26
PNG give: M. Redman

Reasoning: Pick for player. Pass.

TRADE #13 - Approved
Crabs give: H. Wigg + nat 50
PNG Hunters give: nat 40

Reasoning: Pick upgrade for player. Pass.

TRADE #14 - Approved
Head Hunters give: David Mackay + Nat 56
Elephants give: Nat 49

Reasoning: Pick upgrade for player. Pass.

TRADE #15 - Approved
Laos trade: N33
Bangladesh trade: Brandon White

Reasoning: Spec pick for a spec player. Pass.

TRADE #16 - Approved
KL give: N32
Bears give: N38 + Joel Smith

Reasoning: Pick upgrade for player. Pass.

TRADE #17 - Approved
PNG give: Lachie Weller + Touk Miller
KL give: Jarrod Witts + Mitch Hannan + Brandon Parfitt

Reasoning: Witts is a number 1 ruck and they are very valuable. Touk Miller and Lachie Weller are very good kids with long careers ahead of them. Hannan and Parfitt have shown enough in their first seasons of senior football to level out the trade.

TRADE #18 - Approved
Bangkok gives: Dan McKenzie
Taiwan gives: nat 29

Reasoning: Spec pick for a spec player. Pass.

TRADE #19 - Approved
UAE Tigers give: D Mundy + ND #47
Tibetan Llamas give : A Otten + Luke Brown

Reasoning: David Mundy is 32 so only has a season or 2 left. His average of 146 while decent, is not as elite as it once was. Otten should get DPP and with Lever looking likely to leave should get the odd game moving forward. Brown however is best 22. Brown and Otten both average around the 100 mark which is fine for depth. Pick levels it out.

TRADE #20 - Approved
Folders give: Nat Pick 26
Crabs give: Jacob Townsend + Rookie Pick 32

Reasoning: Pick for player. Pass

TRADE #21 - Rejected
PNG Head Hunters give: Ryan Clarke + Darcy Lang + N49
Taiwan Dolphins give: Tom Cutler + N16

Reasoning: Head Hunters giving up too much for nat 16 and Cutler, who ended the year in the NEAFL and had other players pass him. Clarke also a big chance to gain def eligibility which was taken into consideration as Head Hunters were making this trade to improve their defensive depth. More in depth reasoning given to both coaches who have decided not to renegotiate the trade.

TRADE #22
Taiwan trade: Zach Tuohy + nat 12
Bangladesh trade: Brayden Fiorini + David Cuningham

Revised trade: Approved
Taiwan trade: Zach Tuohy + nat 12
Bangladesh trade: Brayden Fiorini + David Cuningham +nat 33

Reasoning: Tuohy is a top 20 defender. Fiorini has a heap of potential and has shown very good scoring potential in his limited games so far. Cuningham was a pick 23 2 years ago and should also be a solid scorer. The swap of picks levels out the trade enough for it to be approved. Bears still win this trade but it isn't one sided enough to be rejected.

TRADE #23 - Approved
Folders give: C. Salem
Gazelles give: K. Lambert + N22

Reasoning: Both players average approx the same. Salem should retain def status in 2018 while there is a big chance Lambert will be mid only. Nat pick might be slight overs to compensate age difference and the possibility of Lambert losing fwd status but not enough to reject.

TRADE #24 - Approved
Hong Kong gives: Oscar McDonald
UAE gives: Ryan Griffen

Reasoning: Atto is aware that Griffen has maybe only 1 year left and his injury concerns. The Dongs do need mids however and have a surplus of defenders. McDonald is a depth defender that will come in handy for UAE. Easy pass as both players suit the teams needs.

TRADE #25 - Approved
Hong Kong trades: N35
Bangkok trades: N40 + Jesse Lonergan

Reasoning: Jesse being a fringe player for the year & ND pick exchange balances out the trade. Pass.

TRADE #26 - Approved
UAE give: ND #36
Laos give: Kamdyn McIntosh

Reasoning: Simple pick for player. Pass.

TRADE #27 - Approved
Tibet to give nat 46
PNG to give: C. Ellis-Yolmen

Reasoning: CEY has been guaranteed a spot for 2018 as a rookie. Pick is around the mark. Easy pass.

TRADE #28 - Approved
Folders give: Nat 66
Laos give: Stewart Crameri

Reasoning: - BB knows the risks with Crameri. Pass

TRADE #29 - Approved
Taiwan trade: Liam Shiels + Nat 16 + Rook 11 + Nat 53 + Nat 61 + Nick O'Kearney
Mongolia trade: Bachar Houli + Nat 21 + Rook 19 + Cameron O'Shea

Reasoning: Perhaps one of the weirdest trades of the period. Both clubs swap a player not on an AFL list in O'Kearney and O'Shea. Houli is a top 10 defender in AXV but is 3 years older than Shiels. Shiels averaged slightly more and has more room for improvement as his 2017 season could be considered disappointing. Shiels is worth less on the market than Houli. Slight pick upgrades evened out by late nat picks. Trades don't need to be even so this is close enough to be a pass.

APPROVED TRADES - TRADE PERIOD 2

TRADE #1 - Approved
Llamas give: Jeremy Cameron
Gazelles give: Josh P. Kennedy

Reasoning: Both guys averaged the same pts for 2017 in AXV. Cameron is 5 years younger than JPK though. Considering the team positions and depth on the associated lines, the trade passes. Trades don't need to be even and at this stage of the competition with one for one trades they often are not. This trade however benefits specific needs for the 2 teams involved and is not close to be uneven enough not to pass.

TRADE #2 -
Hong Kong trades: Jack Bowes
Bangkok trades: Steven Motlop

Revised Trade: Rejected.

Bangkok give: David Swallow + Shaun Atley
Hong Kong give: Jack Bowes + Josh Dunkley

Reasoning: The above trade: I feel that there is good reasoning to not approve this.
Swallow + Atley, despite being talented, do not reflect the value of Dunkley + Bowes in terms of their potential and importance / value to the Dongs.
Bangkok needs to compensate Hong Kong more for giving up their scarce valuable players.

TRADE #3 - Approved
Eskimos trade: Aaron Sandilands
Ales trade: Sam Hayes

Reasoning: Sandilands has one year left and fits the Ales needs perfectly while they wait for Lobb to gain ruck status in 2019. Sam Hayes is going to take a very long time to build a tank for senior AFL football. He is currently a risk as seen by him sliding to the 40's in the draft. Definitely worth the risk however as if he gets fit he will be a solid forward/ruck. Trade fits both teams needs and passes.

TRADE #4 - Approved
Bangladesh give: Jed Bews
Bangkok give: Hayden Ballantyne

Reasoning: Bangladesh need some forward depth and Bangkok are after some back depth. Trade suits both teams needs & is a pass.

Huge trade to kick off the AXVs trade period!  :o

Elephants give: Sam Day
Gazelles give: N44

I was probably gonna delist Sam Day as I had no need for him and Zander was interested in him so offered a pick.

Zander to confirm.

I suck at drafting anyway, hoping day can get back from that horrible injury

Koop

Taiwan give: Mitch Honeychurch
Tibet give: NAT 13

Tbag was after some depth to strengthen his premiership tilt. Honeychurch looked to have a best 22 spot at the Bullies locked down before injury and is a consistent scorer who has shown at VFL to be a great scorer if he gets a full time midfield gig.

Tbag to confirm.

Yeah that's right, with retiring Watson and Mitchell, we need to replenish depth and youth just will not help us next year or two! Also expecting some FWDS will not keep FWD status in 18

Confirm

So with an abundance of DEF competing for spots at Tibet and the retiring veterans, FWDs moving into perma Mid and hopefully Blakley gains D/M. We see this trade as necessary

Tibet Give: Jasper Pittard

Elephants give: Travis Boak

Nigey to confirm

Confirmed.

I see Boak as surplus to needs and desperately need some starting quality defenders, so Pittard fits the bill perfectly.

iZande to confirm.

Love Tippa but i was surprised to see the Gazelles in finals contention this year and i should trade accordingly. Cyril was bad this year then got injured but youd think he would pick up a bit, dont expect to see the old Cyril in a premiership team but should be a solid forward, 2nd rounder evens it out.

To kick of my Asian career
