What is America's AXVIII DT?

The Americas 18's (AXVIII) is based on the popular World 15s competitions developed by Ossie85 on FanFooty.

The concept was designed for Fantasy Coaches who want to experience the additional benefits of coaching a team that doesn't cease at the end of the regular season. Players drafted into an 18's team remain with that team for the life of their career until they either retire, are delisted, or are traded to another Americas XVIII club.

How does it work?

12 team competition (run by FF members)
Most current AFL players were selected in a draft
18 players (plus 4 emergencies and captains) are selected each week to compete against other teams
Scoring is based on the Real Dreamteam scoring system
At the end of each season, there will be a trading period and national/rookie drafts.
The competition runs simultaneously to the AFL season

How do players score points?

Whatever the player scores in Real Dream Team for that week, that is the score that player will get in America's AXVIII for the week.

Example: Todd Goldstein scores 119 against GWS in Real DreamTeam in Round 1, he will also score 119 in the America's AXVIII for Round 1.

How can I be part of America's AXVIII?

There are two ways you can be a part of the America's AXVIII Comp

Coach
Assistant Coach

Coach - Run the team as if it were your own,you make all the decisions regarding who to field each week, who is your captain, who to trade and who to draft.Unfortunately, the opportunity to become a coach only comes along when a coach retires or is sacked. Once it has been announced, a formal process will begin to find a new coach.

Assistant Coach - Help assist the coach in whatever way. Teams are always on the lookout for additional help, it is best to contact the coach directly to see if they require some additional help managing their team.

I have more questions...

If there is any questions about the America's AXVIII comp you would like answered, please do not hesitate to contact the admin (Nige) via PM, or make a post in the America's AXVIII Discussion thread. We would be more than happy to help you out

1.2 The concept was designed for Fantasy Coaches who want to experience the additional benefits of coaching a team that doesn't cease at the end of the regular season. Players drafted into an 18's team remain with that team for the life of their career until they either retire, are delisted, or are traded to another Americas XVIII club.

TEAM FORMAT AND LODGEMENT

6.1 Final Team Lists : Team lists will comprise 54 Players.

6.2 Official team lists will be maintained in this thread:

http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,99115.0.html

6.3 Teams must be named weekly before the first game each week:
Teams will be lodged weekly in a new thread created for that round.

6.4 All teams will be locked at first bounce of the first game of the round when the round begins on a Friday. We will have individual lock-outs should the first game of the round be prior to Friday.

6.5 If a team is not lodged then the team for the previous week will become the default team.

Coaches not posting their weekly teams will be monitored and penalties will apply.

6.6 GAME POINTS PENALTY (failing to submit team without informing admin)

1st - Warning
2nd offence - VC Score doesn't count
3rd offence - Captain score doesn't count - Sacking - Team taken into admin - new coach

Teams regularly not posting their teams will be monitored and may be sacked.

6.7 All coaches will be required to submit a preference list prior to the start of new seasons. There will be a thread provided for the preference lists. These preference list will be used in cases where a coach is unable to post their team up in the weekly team submission thread.

Administrators will rule on any disputes regarding team lodgement.

7.1 Teams must be named in the following format:
Captain: Player name
Vice Captain: Player name
Deputy Vice Captain: Player name
Backs: DEF , DEF , DEF , DEF, - Four starting defenders
Mids: MID, MID, MID, MID, MID, MID, - Six starting midfielders
Ruck: RUC - One starting ruck
Forwards: FWD, FWD, FWD, FWD, - Four starting forwards
Utilities: UTI, UTI, UTI, - Three starting utilities (These can be players from any position)
Emergencies: DEF, MID, RUC, FWD, - One for each position, NO UTILITY SUB.

7.2 Captain: 2x points
Vice Captain: 1.5x points

7.3 Deputy Vice Captain: Will replace the Vice Captain should the Captain or Vice Captain not play.

7.4 If a team loses 2 of its 3 named captain options (Captain/Vice Captain/Emerg Vice Captain) they will get 0 bonus points for their Vice Captain. If a team loses all three captain options then they will get 0 bonus points for their Captain and Vice Captain.

7.5 If a Coach fails to name their C/VC/EVC correctly they will receive their C/VC/EVC selections from the previous week. An example of this would be if a coach forgot to name one of the C/VC/EVC selections or named 2 Captains/2 Vice Captains etc ..any variation of not naming these selections properly will result in the default selections being used.

7.6 Emergency Scoring
Emergencies will play should a starting member of your team not play, but with conditions.

7.7 Emergencies can only replace players in the SAME position for full points.

7.8 If neither the utilities nor the emergencies can fill the correct position, the FIRST preference emergency will fill in but only HALF the score (rounded up) will count.

7.9 Rounding up will occur anytime you have an odd number (OOP player, Vice Captain bonus points)
Example: Vice scores 103 x 1.5 = 154.5 = 155  Example: OOP player scores 63 = 31.5 = 32

7.10 If a utility is a Dual Position Player, he can be called into either position (i.e. if he is a Fwd/Mid, he can play as either a forward or mid) and the FIRST list emergency will take his place as a utility for FULL points.

7.11 If 2 starting players from the same position do not play and you do not have a utility or emergency to cover the correct position you will receive HALF of your first available playing emergency players score.

7.12 If a Utility does not play the first listed emergency will take his place.

7.13 You can choose to play a player out of position but if you do so you will only get half their score.

7.14 If a player is named more than once in your team you will receive his full points in his highest scoring position and a 0 for every other time he is named.

7.15 If too many players are named in any position the extra players will be moved to the emergency positions.

7.16 The team playing at home will have the advantage of having the score of the lowest scoring player in the correct position added to total score as home ground advantage.

7.17 When missing a Utility and a set named position if neither the utilities nor the interchange can fill the correct position then the first named interchange not required to replace a player goes to utilities at full points and then the next named playing interchange replaces missing positions for half points.

7.18 The use of the Captain loophole is not permitted in Americas Dreamteam. If a coach names an obvious non playing captain they will not receive any captain points for that week. This will be up to admin to rule on.

TRADING

8.1 Trading between teams is allowed as long as the administrators determine them to be reasonably fair between both parties.

8.2 Trades must be 1 for 1. This includes the trade of draft picks.

8.3 Trades must be listed in the Trading Thread in the following format:

X Team receives: Player A

Y Team receives: Player B

8.4 The trade must be then confirmed by the other party in the trade.

8.5 Trades will either Passed or Rejected by the league administrator. The administrator will take into consideration the short and long term impacts to both teams, to ensure the trade does not damage a team's future chances of being competitive.

8.6 Where any coach feels that the decision of the administrator is incorrect or unfair they may appeal and all other coaches will be asked to vote. A majority vote of coaches has the power to over-rule the decision made by the administrator. They will then provide feedback to the coaches involved in the trade.

8.7 If 4 or more coaches appeal a trade, a trade can be reviewed and a decision may be over-turned.

8.8 The initial approval of trades will come from a 2 member administration panel, who are deemed to be as impartial as possible.

8.9 The current committee is comprised of LF and Atto. For trades involving admin the current committee is comprised of elephants and Pkbaldy

8.10 Americas competition has a cap on trading, we will have a maximum of 20 player movements per team over 2 trade periods. Player movements include trading draft picks, on trading players is also classed as a player movement.

8.11 Retired and Delisted players are not allowed to be traded. This includes compo picks.

Trade period 1 will start 1 month prior to the Nat and rookie drafts (allows trading of draft picks)

Trade period 2 will be after AFL Fantasy/RDT (Virtual Sports) positions are announced (whoever names them first)

9.1 AFL Retired/Delisted players can be delisted by AXVIII teams at the end of the season, there will be a thread provided for delistings. Teams will need to delist at least 8 players if they want to use all of their National and Rookie draft picks, any/all picks can be skipped if required. Compo picks will be awarded at the end of the rookie draft in reverse ladder order for teams that do not have the required 54 player team list. Compo picks are not allowed to be traded

ROOKIE LISTS

10.1 As voted by the coaches of the competition, rookie lists are no longer part of AXVIII DT competition, all players on a teams list are available for selection every week.

MISCELLANEOUS

11.1 If you do not make contact within two weeks unless a reason is provided to the league administrator you may be sacked

11.2 Teams must maintain a reasonably organised Team thread. This should include at a minimum the current team list. http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/board,108.0.html

11.3 Tanking by any coach will not be accepted. It is fairly easy to judge if a player is tanking for draft picks or not. If anyone is caught tanking their first round draft pick for the national draft will be taken away from them.

11.4 If a coach is sacked, the Administrator will advertise the position as available and accept nominations. The administrators will have the final decision when replacing a coach.

11.5 When replacing a coach, the Administrator will advertise the position as available on FanFooty. The successful applicant will be named as new coach and will start their new role immediately.

11.6 Administrators will have the final ruling in the case of any disputes.

DRAFTING

NATIONAL DRAFT

12.1 Each team gets 4 picks (1st round,2nd round,3rd round,4th round) these picks can be skipped if required.

12.2 Available players have been drafted by an AFL club in the National draft and listed in draft pick order.

12.3 Draft picks are decided by reverse ladder order at the end of the AXVIII H&A season.

12.4 In this, as in all drafts, coaches have 24 hours offline, or 2 hours online in which to make their selections, after the previous selection is made. This will be enforced by the league administrator and discretion can be used where appropriate.

12.5 After making a selection coaches must private message (pm) the next coach on FanFooty to make them aware it is their pick.

12.6 The draft will commence in the days following the AFL National Draft, further information will be available at the conclusion of the current season.

ROOKIE DRAFT

13.1 Each team gets 4 picks (1st round,2nd round,3rd round,4th round) these picks can be skipped if required.

13.2 Available players have been drafted by an AFL club in the Rookie draft and listed in draft pick order.

13.3 Draft picks are decided by reverse ladder order at the end of the H&A season.

13.4 Coaches have 24 hours offline, or 2 hours online in which to make their selections, after the previous selection is made. This will be enforced by the league administrator and discretion can be used where appropriate.

13.5 After making a selection coaches must private message (pm) the next coach on FanFooty to make them aware it is their pick.

13.6 The draft will commence in the days following the AFL Rookie Draft.

13.7 At the conclusion of the Rookie draft any teams short of a 54 player team list will receive compo picks. Compo pick draft order is by reverse ladder order at the end of the H&A season (AFL round 19)

VOTING ON RULES ETC

14.1 At times we will require feedback from the coaches in the comp, admin will send out any voting via pm's.This will ensure we get the proper vote count from the coaches involved rather than using polls on the FanFooty site that any user on the site can vote in.

14.2 Voting is anonymous and all votes are to be pm'ed back to both of the admin of the competition only (currently LF and Atto),not all the coaches.By the deadline as stated in the original pm.

14.3 The results of any votes along with any comments will be published in the General Discussion thread

14.4 If the result is a tied vote,we will have an open discussion on the matter and then send out a re-vote to all the coaches to gain a majority result

14.5 If there is still a tied vote after a re-vote,it will then come down to admin call(currently LF and Atto) as to whether the4matter goes through or not

14.6 Any coach that fails to vote will receive a strike against them

14.7 Any coach that fails to vote before the stated deadline will not have their vote counted

RETIRING AND SUSPENDED PLAYERS

15.1 If a player retires before the season begins and it's after we have finished drafting and trading, the coach of the team he is from will be allowed to draft a new replacement for them

15.2 If a player retires after the season has begun, they will remain on your list until the end of the season when you are then able to delist them.

15.3 If a player is suspended for the entire season for any reason eg Lachlan Keefe then they cannot be replaced until the end of the season if the coach wishes to delist them

15.4 In special circumstances such as the Essendon Saga it will be up to current admins discretion as how to rectify the situation for the benefit of all teams in the competition
