Oh yeah that clue is Wingard surely!! :D :D
:'( The most disappointing day of my life

How dare the club mislead us

http://www.portadelaidefc.com.au/news/2015-12-16/btw-clue-3

The surprise was that the club signed its first female footballer. The announcement is good, but anyone can reasonable know why I'm disappointed (as I thought Wingard would be extending - I was excited about the announcement as well - equivalent of the Gold Coast signing Ablett imo)

Final clue;

"Three announcements down, one more to come

Christmas is coming and our presents are nearly done.

Here's our final clue, a photo of the boys,

Hope you enjoyed our Christmas gifts, in lieu of any toys..."

and a photo in which, someone please correct me if I'm wrong, Wingard is conspicuously absent (could have been taken when grounded in Bali though)

Sorry to open your Christmas present early everyone  ;D

Article says Wines is expected to re-sign by the end of the week as well  ;D

Nup I don't think it's a Wingard extension. How does the clue match that up? Would've thought yesterday's clue was mroe Wingard than this one

Regardless of whether or not the clue is about Chad extending, the fact is that Chad is set to extend  ;D

Hopefully the announcement is more unrelated good news paired with the Chad extension as a separate article  ;)

Okay I take back what I said yesterday

http://www.portadelaidefc.com.au/news/2015-12-17/the-phantom-menace-bonus-clue
The bonus clue is a flag. That flag is for the nation of 'Chad'. Clearly the 4th present is about Chad Wingard. Unless it's about Chad Cornes?

I didn't see you write this, but yes I can't find Wingard in there either. I believe it's a photo from the start of 2015 though because is that Kane Cornes 2nd row far left?

Yeah I would say it is Cornes. The picture has shower dimensions and if you zoom in it blurs.

Maybe the 4th announcement will be that the club has hired a better team photographer  :P

Yeah the flag is a giveaway (i.e. unless the club doesn't flower us over and signs a Romanian as an international rookie  :P )

And that puts an end to the one thing our rival Crows fans were looking forward to next season  :P

3 more years of the Chad  ;D

Apparently Ollie wants to stay, but he wants a short-term contract rather than a long-term one.

He doesn't want a long-term contract because it will affect his earning capacity in the future (he could be worth $800k a season one day). I think he will sign a 3 year extension and that way if he is worth more than his current market value in the future (which he certainly will be), he will review offers and see if Port can match it (and hopefully he can and do).

Ablett was ripped off in his last few years at Geelong for signing a long-term contract at a young age (they were paying him significantly less than market value) and young players have since learned not to make that mistake. Middle to late career players like long-term contracts because of security (e.g. Hammer, Ziebell, Buddy etc.) and young players only like them when they are too good to be true (e.g. Jezza Cameron).

I would say impartially that Ollie & Chad are making the right decision, but I think both will extend for three years. Then retaining Wines beyond that will be the primary focus (I think Chad will be a one-club player unless something unforeseen occurs)
