Round 1

Rising Star

Nailing the 2024 draft better than anyone (so far), Beijing would be thrilled with its Pick 9 Xavier Lindsay (86) not only looking a million bucks, but playing a crucial role in its 3pt win over Berlin. The first nomination of many to come for Beijing me thinks!

Team of the Week

A team full of household names dominated by the 4 mids and a whopping 3 rucks! Dublin boasted the two best forwards, whilst Jack Macrae makes his long awaited return back into the team. Special mention to Jack Ross too who relished in his first game for West Coast, providing Pacific a huge boost.

But a very big mention to the Japanese captain and coach! It's been a minute since Boomz last COTW, which is surely a sign of big things to come in 2025!

D: Dayne Zorko (New Delhi), Dan Houston (Rome), Lachie Whitfield (Tokyo), Bailey Dale (Seoul)
M: Josh Dunkley [C] (Tokyo), Matt Rowell (Berlin), Noah Anderson (New Delhi), Jack Ross (Pacific)
R: Tom De Koning [VC] (Rio de Janeiro)
F: Bailey Smith (Dublin), Izak Rankine (Dublin), Jack Macrae (Toronto), Toby Greene (Buenos Aires)
U: Jarrod Witts (Pacific), Max Gawn (Seoul)

Coach: Boomz (Tokyo)

Round 2

Rising Star

Not many are playing their young guns! The top 5 scorers all played in reserves (Connor O'Sullivan, Clay Hall, Tyrell Dewar, Ted Clohesy, Daniel Curtin), whilst Xav Lindsay would have nommed again if he didn't last week!

So we may as well get Levi Ashcroft's (72) nomination out of the way early, with him looking assured of rewarding PNLs faith in him as Pick 1.

Team of the Week

Toronto dominates this team with Coach, Captain and Vice Captain, although Beijing's Kade Chandler (152) could have disrupted that clean sweep as the vice captain! DBJ makes a rare appearance in the forward line, whilst one suspects Sam Darcy will be featuring more often than not going forward.

D: Jack Sinclair (New Delhi), Bailey Dale (Seoul), Dayne Zorko (New Delhi), Jordan Clark (New York)
M: Jai Newcombe [VC] (Toronto), Zach Merrett (PNL), Matt Crouch (Seoul), Tom Liberatore (Tokyo)
R: Tristan Xerri (Dublin)
F: Jack Macrae [C] (Toronto), Ben Keays (Cape Town), Darcy Byrne-Jones (New York), Sam Darcy (London)
U: Matt Rowell (Berlin), Lachie Neale (Toronto)

Coach: fanTCfool (Toronto)

Purple 77

Round 3

Rising Star

It was a matter of time before AFL Pick #1, and London's Pick #3 Sam Lalor (112) got nominated, in a very impressive performance for the Royals that was above all others.

Rio's Connor O'Sullivan (103) stuff to miss out.

Team of the Week

It was a week for the forwards with a might 6 of them and a M/F in the mids! It was almost very nearly a perfect XV, had it not been a comparatively poor week for the rucks.

Left-field leaders Rioli and Jones captain this team, coached by the first 170+ coach in KB.

D: Daniel Rioli [C] (Tokyo), Lachie Whitfield (Tokyo), Harry Sheezel (Cape Town), Luke Ryan (Buenos Aires)
M: Hugh McCluggage (Christchurch), Caleb Serong (Buenos Aires), Andrew Brayshaw (Dublin), Lachie Neale (Toronto)
R: Max Gawn (Seoul)
F: Darcy Jones [vc] (Rome), Jason Horne-Francis (New Delhi), Toby Greene (Buenos Aires), Sam Darcy (London)
U: Jesse Hogan (Christchurch), Nick Watson (Cairo)

Coach: kilbluff1985 (New Delhi)

Purple 77

Round 4

Rising Star

Is it a bird? Is it Jordan Dawson? No, it's ARCHIE ROBERTS (107) backing up his performance in the 2s last week (98) with a ton, leading all comers for the Round 4 nomination.

Team of the Week

A midfielders round with a mighty 6 of them featuring in the top 9 scorers! Brayshaw leads the team and Dublin to victory, with deputy Holmes from NY overseeing a comparatively lean defence, absent Pacific's McGovern (125) whom was stuck in the 2s.

The Roman coach Jukes brought his prized players Rozee and Daicos along with him, whilst Beijing's Callum Ah Chee makes a surprise F1 appearance.

D: Max Holmes [VC] (New York), Lachlan Ash (PNL), Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera (Rio de Janeiro), Adam Saad (London)
M: Andrew Brayshaw [C] (Dublin), Sam Walsh (Mexico City), Connor Rozee (Rome), Hugh McCluggage (Christchurch)
R: Max Gawn (Seoul)
F: Callum Ah Chee (Beijing), Josh Treacy (Christchurch), Toby Greene (Buenos Aires), Bailey Smith (Dublin)
U: Zak Butters (New Delhi), Nick Daicos (Rome)

Coach: Jukes (Rome)

Purple 77

Round 5

Rising Star

It's been a difficult first 5 rounds of the competition for Berlin, but at least there is Harvey Langford (94). He is Berlin's first nomination in quite some time!

Team of the Week

Fitting that our feature game of the round had both the Captain and Vice Captain pitted against each other! It was a big week for the mids and defenders, and a slow one for the forwards. King Karl (Rio) makes an appearance in the defence, whilst Ryley Sanders make his first appearance sneaking in at F4 for Berlin.

D: Nick Vlastuin (Cairo), Karl Amon (Rio de Janeiro), Nicholas Martin (New York), Lachie Whitfield (Tokyo)
M: Nick Daicos [C] (Rome), George Hewett [VC] (Christchurch), Zak Butters (New Delhi), Marcus Bontempelli (Pacific)
R: Tristan Xerri (Dublin)
F: Kysaiah Pickett (Rome), Matthew Kennedy (Rio de Janeiro), Shai Bolton (Mexico City), Ryley Sanders (Berlin)
U: Tim Taranto (Rio de Janeiro), Matthew Flynn (Toronto)

Coach: fanTCfool (Toronto)

Purple 77

Round 6

Rising Star

This weeks nomination was clearly consolidated by Caiden Cleary (89), courtesy of his call-up to the Cape Town Cobras.

Connor O'Sullivan (95) would have pinched it if named.

Team of the Week

An incredible FIVE Destroyers made this weeks TOTW in a round otherwise dominated by the rucks. There is just something special seeing Max take the C, with Meek and Xerri denying the 9th highest scoring TDK and 12th (albeit in reserves) highest scoring Roma. Bowey and Humphrey feature likely not for the last time, whilst old stalwarts Howe and Sidebottom turned back the clock in an impressive display, particular the latter for its TOTW coach Pk.

D: Lachlan Ash (PNL), Harry Sheezel (Cape Town), Jake Bowey (Toronto), Jeremy Howe (Dublin)
M: Zak Butters [VC] (New Delhi), Andrew Brayshaw (Dublin), Lachie Neale (Toronto), Steele Sidebottom (Mexico City)
R: Max Gawn [C] (Seoul)
F: Bailey Humphrey (Berlin), Harry McKay (Mexico City), Bailey Smith (Dublin), Izak Rankine (Dublin)
U: Lloyd Meek (Pacific), Tristan Xerri (Dublin)

Coach: Pkbaldy (Mexico City)

Purple 77

Round 7

Rising Star

A joint nomination this week, congratulations to Cairo's Luke Trainor and Mexico City's Henry Hustwaite (82).

Team of the Week

Mighty Max makes it back-to-back. Quite a few defenders and forwards missed out in the reserves.

D: Josh Battle (Rome), Bailey Dale (Seoul), Harry Sheezel (Cape Town), Corey Wagner (Rome)
M: Zach Merrett [VC] (PNL), Ed Richards (Cairo), Jordan Dawson (New Delhi), Marcus Bontempelli (Pacific)
R: Max Gawn [C] (Seoul)
F: Jack Macrae (Toronto), Izak Rankine (Dublin), Ryan Maric (Buenos Aires), Kade Chandler (Beijing)
U: Timothy English (London), Tristan Xerri (Dublin)

Coach: JBs-Hawks

Purple 77

Round 8

Rising Star

It was PNLs day on the weekend, with a nomination to Nate Caddy (85) capping off the celebrations of its first victory in 2025!

Team of the Week

Boy that New York backline is enviable, with Clark, Martin and Holmes (via midfield) all young and featuring. Dublin also dominates this team with captain Xerri, Brayshaw and Smith... as well as the coach! I wonder when the last time Holz was COTW?

It was otherwise a huge week for the defenders, with many worthy scores missing out.

D: Dayne Zorko (New Delhi), Andrew McGrath (Dublin), Jordan Clark (New York), Nicholas Martin (New York)
M: Jack Crisp [VC] (Rio de Janeiro), Andrew Brayshaw (Dublin), Josh Dunkley (Tokyo), Max Holmes (New York)
R: Tristan Xerri [C] (Dublin)
F: Jesse Hogan (Christchurch), Bailey Smith (Dublin), Harry McKay (Mexico City), Luke Parker (Toronto)
U: Max Gawn (Seoul), Nick Blakey (Rome)

Coach: Holz (Dublin)

Purple 77

Round 9

Rising Star

Whilst the team has been experiecing middling form, Cairo gets to celebrate its 2nd nomination in Cooper Simpson (71)! His teammate Kane McAuliffe (96) would have had the honour if he was named in the 1.

Team of the Week

FTC is putting together a resume now, notching his 3rd COTW title, courtesy of captain Roma and Heeney. Bailey Smith is starting to call the TOTW is home now too, whilst Zac Bailey makes his first appearance in ages.

I could barely give away the D4 spot this week, with neither McKercher or Maynard featuring in the 1s, allowing Noble to swoop in from the 33rd highest score of the week.

D: Bailey Dale (Seoul), Jack Sinclair (New Delhi), Jeremy Howe (Dublin), John Noble (London)
M: Noah Anderson (New Delhi), Adam Cerra (PNL), Tom Liberatore (Tokyo), Marcus Bontempelli (Pacific)
R: Rowan Marshall [C] (Toronto)
F: Bailey Smith [VC] (Dublin), Shai Bolton (Mexico City), Luke Jackson (Berlin), Zac Bailey (Pacific)
U: Tristan Xerri (Dublin), Isaac Heeney (Toronto)

Coach: fanTCfool (Toronto)

Purple 77

Round 10

Rising Star

Another joint nomination, and another Cairo rep! Although he missed out on a rightful nomination last week, Kane McAuliffe (97) wasted no time in rectifying the coaches mistake.

He was joined by first AFL-gamer, first WXV-gamer Angus Clarke (97) from Mexico City, rewarding a hugh sign of faith in the young gun.

Team of the Week

A rare co-captain sighting! Nic Martin led New York to a close victory whilst Jackson led Berlin to the not worst score of the round...

As mentioned, ROB normally peaks around this time of year, so it stands to reason that he's in the team.

It's been a Long time coming for Ned, but he snuck in on the bench, whilst Thilthorpe also makes a special appearance.

D: Nicholas Martin [CC] (New York), Jack Sinclair (New Delhi), Max Holmes (New York), Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera (Rio de Janeiro)
M: Zach Merrett (PNL), Lachie Neale (Toronto), Ed Richards (Cairo), Jordan Dawson (New Delhi)
R: Reilly O'Brien (Buenos Aires)
F: Luke Jackson [CC] (Berlin), Kysaiah Pickett (Rome), Toby Greene (Buenos Aires), Riley Thilthorpe (Tokyo)
U: Max Gawn (Seoul), Ned Long (Rome)

Coach: kilbluff1985 (New Delhi)

Purple 77

Round 11

Rising Star

It was certainly a week to be an O'Sullivan! Connor (95) (Rio) would have got the nom if named, instead Beijing's Finn (90) finally takes out his inevitable nomination.

Team of the Week

BOOM! D1, M1, R1, F1 AND COACH1 were swept up by Christchurch in an inspired performance by the Saints.

D: Callum Wilkie (Christchurch), Colby McKercher (Cairo), Jordan Clark (New York), Harry Sheezel (Cape Town)
M: Hugh McCluggage [VC] (Christchurch), Noah Anderson (New Delhi), Steele Sidebottom (Mexico City), Zak Butters (New Delhi)
R: Brodie Grundy [C] (Christchurch)
F: Jamie Elliott (Christchurch), Bailey Smith (Dublin), Liam Baker (Toronto), Gryan Miers (Cape Town)
U: Tristan Xerri (Dublin), Tom De Koning (Rio de Janeiro)
