In spite of the scoreboard, this game was actually closer than it looked, and much closer than expected for a game between the reigning premiers and the reigning spooners. If Witts and Walsh put up more captaincy-like scores rather than the rubbish they put up, and Paul Ahern topped 20, this would've been a lot closer because apart from that, it was pretty even. Quito weren't exactly poor, doing enough to win, but they can see their midfield needs to step up like their other lines (sans Lynch) did.

Houston Bombers 18.7.115 defeated Las Vegas Sinners 17.11.113
(Real: 1727 vs 1699)

Out of subs out of luck for the Sinners, as they most likely rue their lack of a sub for this loss - although that's not to take anything away from Houston, who did enough to get the W on the back of a huge performance by Heeney to make up for Ziebell and Kreuzer doing nothing or getting injured (I don't remember round one too well). Mostly the usuals in the best for both sides!

Ottawa were kept in it by a huge performance by Cunnington, but his score went to waste (stick around for the SF game for another 180+ score surely going to waste) as he had to carry scores of 16, 22, 34 and 40 in his side - or not really his side, because the veteran was snubbed for captaincy for Marshall! Wisconsin were much more consistent across the board, having their only sub-50 score subbed off, but will need to see more from Zorko that's for sure.

Anaheim Mighty Ducks 20.5.125 lost to Carolina Panthers 20.13.133

Anaheim put up a very impressive score with very few passengers...but didn't even really get that close as Carolina stormed into a huge score on the back of Milo, and I suppose Grundy and Shiel too. Nine centurions for Anaheim and they don't get the win, don't see that too often but they'll take confidence out of being one of the best scoring teams of round one, and losing to mostly two huge/outlier scorers.

May have scored poorly, especially considering that thicc 186 in the midfield, but I'll take the win, as Cripps couldn't carry NBH to the victory. Both teams have clear areas of improvement and will hope to capitalise on them before their next games.

Chicago Sharks 20.11.131 lost to Boston Terriers 20.12.132
(Real: 1963 vs 1972)

Another ripper game, as the Neale captaincy wins the game as Oliver just couldn't deliver on the other side. Boston got over scores of 16 (subbed off), 50, 50, 54 (subbed on) and 55 to snag this victory thanks to the aforementioned Neale, plus a 150+ from Howe and Goldstein's 136 as VC and a few other 120+ scores. Hurn lead the way with a 152 for Chicago as they had their own bunch of 120+ scores but just fell short - but, like Anaheim, they can take plenty of confidence out of their own score.
