Title: NAT tours and other stuff #2
Post by: PowerBug on December 05, 2014, 10:41:31 AM
An area to discuss everything to do with the NAT scene, tours, friendlies, other NAT managers etc.. A continuation from NT Tours and Friendly Match Thread (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,36695.0.html)

So fairly sure Zimbabwe have flowered up with their squad selection for the U19 world cup. They didn't select Nathaniel Tiger, who has been on every single tour since he was 18. Has played 19 one day matches for them (so only missed one game out of 4 tours), yet hasn't been picked. He's an out/out boundary hitter!! Either the selection flowered up or they don't want to win...

Wow that is some stuff up on their part. Outs/Outs BH left out... I mean how? :o :o :o.

My two U19 Scots made the World Cup and my Irish Senior BH (Anderson Silva) was a surprise call up for the Senior T20 WC :o. He's never played a Senior International, and is currently 30.

Had a quick chat with uliose and he said Tiger was the first name down for the tour, but something screwed up, and a random squad got selected.

Same thing happened for England during the last tour where they didn't select their best keeper or AR (both my players haha).

Wow, tough luck to them, getting randoms in. Or there is a conspiracy theory against your guys, to leave them out when something goes wrong :o.

And my tour squad got randomly selected in the last Senior tour... Yet they are convinced it's the managers' fault.

To bid or not to bid, that is the question.

England won't bid with the squad they have. Scotland used all their points last OD tour, they won't bid. UAE hosted two tours last season, I can't see them having the points to bid. USA is run by Cynic, he might bid but then again he is out of the WC race and seems like the bloke that can't be stuffed staying in management for another 2 seasons, so he might not feel like it's necessary to bid. It feels like I only have to beat a bid from DKSports' Irish management, but they might be confident in promoting regardless as their squad is the strongest of the lot, so they might not bid.

I wasn't planning on bidding and just taking whatever comes our way, but I feel like there's an opportunity here to try and have a tour run on my terms, just what terms I choose i haven't decided yet ;)

Is that comment there so that I don't pick seam because everyone actually likes spin? ;) I will pick what I feel is right, I have a plan up my sleeve.

Still going to be tough if got 5 out from the First XI. At least got a week to find cover for them! I should be alright, just need to use one of my batters as a keeper.

Yep wlll be tough, my opponent rates 100k and has two players in nat squads but not sure they are strong enough players to be touring so he will be at full strength so with the right orders I should be a good chance still. My main opponent for the the title loses his best bat and keeper and has a little bit weaker opponent then me ratings wise but usually sets good orders.

I lose Guarnere (rfs). I have 3 other decent spinners to get me through the week though. I need to buy a batsman to help me with PC though

I lose Bruin this week. Just means I'll be playing three pace bowlers instead of three spinners with Steven "Junior" Huizenga coming in

If we promote we'll need 4 wins. If we get 4 wins we get a wc spot for sure, there's no way we can miss out based on the results that have already occurred this week in Div 3.

So yes, I am counting on it.

I don't know how you see your side doing enough to promote but anyway. West Indies are really strong and playing well.

We lost our first OD match this season this morning, and it was very narrow, it was on a Crumbling pitch, you had the massive benefit of batting first and you had a 14k ratings head start.

As DZ likes to say, WI are a rabble with DJ at the helm. If both you & I take care of them we will very likely promote. Kenya are our biggest concern for upcoming matches at the moment.

8 wickets in two matches on this tour so far. Bruin is your God
Title: Re: NAT tours and other stuff #2
Post by: PowerBug on March 04, 2015, 06:35:08 PM
What's wrong with dj? All I look at are results, he has them so far, and he hasn't been in div 3 (iirc) during these last two seasons. That seems like a good enough record to me, a better one than what you've got.

So you lost us because we are a better team? Don't see where the issue is. Personally I think all NAT matches are 50/50 because the ratings gaps are never really big enough. Which is why if I choose to run again then you'll see me trying something different for the first season to try and get that edge in EVERY match.

Well Torp, I hope you are right about dj because we need to beat his lot this evening to keep WC hopes alive, not to mention promotion. But I can see it being either both or none. A loss will make relegation a possibility too....
