News: The Power Shift

In a move that has shocked the AXVs world, the former Elephants coach whatlez was surprisingly banished from the competition and mysteriously disappeared, rumours are rampant and one has it he is now being held captive somewhere in North Korea, while another suggest he decided he needed a life change and faked his own death to relocate from Laos to Australia. The AXVs authorities opened up the coaching job at the Elephants to applicants across the land. Now former Eskimos assistant Nige applied and was successful in his bid to take over the reigns. With him, he has brought along good friend and business partner GoLions, otherwise known as Dave. Fans of the Elephants have labelled this 'the power shift'.

Update: Trade Winds #1

Nige and Dave have gotten straight down to business and have already orchestrated a trade which will see Jack Watts, Jon Patton and Jesse White leave the club. The incoming players, from nearby Bangaldesh, are said to be Jed Adcock, Shane Edwards and Nick Kommer. Also involved in the trade are National Draft picks 40 and 64.

There is also strong word that Jordan Lewis and Shaun Burgoyne are being shown the door, but these are unconfirmed reports, there has also been a whisper that young gun Lachie Whitfield may be on the way out as well. Nige is said to be very happy with the state of the list but would not mind making some moves during the trade periods anyway.

Announcement: Pulling the Trigger on Trades

With the trade period about to end, Nige has pulled the trigger on several trades which have seen some fan favourites leave the club, but in return have come some worthy replacements. The trading breakdown is as follows:

Trade 1

Bears give: Shane Edwards + Jed Adcock + Nicholas Kommer + N64
Elephants give: Jack Watts + Jonathon Patton + Jesse White + N40

Nige says: Saying farewell to Jack who can play both ends was tough, as was moving on young Jon who is recovering from another knee injury. Jesse was expendable and was moved on because the club felt we could cope without him. In to our team come Shane, Jed and Nick. Shane's role allows him to provide a very good output and we see him being an asset to our side. Jed can come in and help out the boys down back who need a mature, experienced head to guide them. Nick is a wildcard, his injuries prevented him from getting himself on the park in 2014 but we feel his work rate will see him push for selection. At this stage, we are unsure whether Pick 64 will be of use to us.

Trade 2

Crocs give: N47 + R63
Elephants give: Burgoyne

Nige says: Shaun would have unfortunately become surplus to requirements in 2015, so we thought finding him a new home where his services could be of use was a nice gesture, in return we have received two picks which again may or may not be of use to us.

Trade 3

Elephants give: Brad McKenzie
Crabs give: N59

Nige says: Unfortunately for Brad, he's a victim of our depth. We didn't feel we had a role or space on the list for him and when we advertised his availability, Bangkok showed significant interest and was able to accommodate a potential need in delivering us a draft pick.

Trade 4

Elephants give: Jordan Lewis
Ales give: Alex Woodward + N12 + R7

Nige says: It was a controversial decision to trade Jordan, attracting much hatred from all around. The decision was made on the basis that even though Jordan was our vice captain, his void can be filled by Travis (Boak) and we have young midfielders ready to step up in his absence. The acquisition of Alex, who I really rate, plus the addition of some excellent drafts picks equates to Jordan's worth. N12 gives us a second pick in the first round of the national draft where we feel we can acquire a significantly talented youngster.

Our live picks in the drafts are: N8, N12, N24, N47 as well as R7, R8, R24 and R40 with N56 to be used to elevate Matt Spangher from the rookie list.

News: Name Change Application Turned Down

Shortly after his appointment, it is believed coach Nige approached the AXVs board in regards to a possible re-branding of the club. His vision included a relocation to Pakistan, but it is believed the idea was shot down. Nige is said to be indifferent on the decision, but is happy to carry on the legacy of former coach whatlez nonetheless.

Well, he's played forward a bit for Carlton lately and we all know if you can clunk a mark, kick it straight and get a goal, you're destined to be a star in AXVs.  8)

Real talk though, if he continues to play forward, he could be a half decent option (consider some defenders don't really get much love from the AXVs scoring system).

The Head might be our defensive emergency though. Can't see him beating out Brodie Smith, Jed Adcock, Jarryn Geary and Ryan Harwood (if fit). If Harwood doesn't get up, Tom McDonald or Ben Stratton would end up D4 anyway I think, unless of course The Head's in some inspired form.

Pretty happy with it! Annoyed about a few things like Ollie's wrist injury, Barlow and Tex both dropping off in form the past two weeks and the fact we did so poorly against the Eskimos in what I thought would be a good game. I guess for the most part I can't complain though.  8)

Definitely not, we're looking forward to eventual father-son prospect River being 10x better than his father could ever possibly be.  8)

Jeez at least you don't have to worry about any fwd possie concerns each year with JJK, Roughead, Tex and JRoo

Probably 4 of the 5 best key forwards in the comp there

Too bad we have the #1 ;)

Meh, I'll take having 4 of the top 5 than one tbh.  ;D

Do we happen to have the top fwds by average in 2015 (AXVs averages)?

Laos BnF update!

Votes are awarded under the 5-4-3-2-1 system. 5 for the best score and so on and so forth. In the event two players score the same, both players are awarded votes for the corresponding placement.

Here are the votes and the tally up to Round 10!

JJK to hold on? Hall to find form again? Maybe Ollie or Goldy to make a charge in the run home? What do we think will happen?
