Title: Grand Final week - Lodgement thread
Post by: Ringo on August 27, 2014, 05:06:24 PM
We reach the final this week.

Championship Final
Winchester Werewolves v Hebden Bridge Hedgehogs
Despite the absence of Gary Ablett Werewolves have till made it through to their second successive grand final. Will they be able to subdue the Hedgehogs who have really been firing over the last few weeks.  Werewolves will be hoping big Dean Cox comes up otherwise they will be behind the eightball from the start. Hedgehogs would be favourites but Werewolves are capable of challenging.

Plate Final
Birmingham Dragons v Liverpool Rams.
Dragons have been really firing in recent weeks being lifted by the form of their Captain Tom Rockliff. If the Rams can subdue him a little they would be in this but easier said than done.

Can not name your draft Swaggers or Falcons Players.

The carnage continues for the Werewolves at  most inopportune time.

BTW I am just about to leave for an overnight retreat and conference and will probably not be back on line until tomorrow night. So keep the banter and scores going in this thread.

Hoping to be back in time to see Lions take down the big Cats.

But your sub is usually the best scorer on the bench. If the utility player is out, you don't get the best scorer on the field?
I guess the sub can replace him hmmm

1360 with Fisher, Dahlhaus and Tomlinson to come (Chaplin replacing Vlastuin as sub)

So essentially...

Greene + 357

vs

Fisher, Dahl, Tomlinson

Liverpool Rams - 1237/13 with C and sub

D: B.Houli 49, J.Gibson 153, S.Wright 71, S.Thompson 87
M: D.Heppell 109x2=218(c), A.Treloar (vc), H.Bennell 90, N.Hrovat
R: B.Brown 106
F: M.Walters 99, H.Crozier 19, L.Taylor 92, J.McGovern 65
I: T.Varcoe 99, D.Armfield 31

E: D.Currie 77(R - sub), L.Casboult 44(F)

So it's

1341/14 vs 1237/13

Crouch x2 + 104 vs Treloar + Hrovat

Gonna take something special or Brad Crouch getting injured and subbed (and even then it might not happen) for us to win.  :(

Not quote as per Rules for Werewolves  Tomlinson as a forward in utility will replace Zorko Kent will move to utilities.  Moore will replace Myyers with Green moving to utilities and then Chaplin will replace lowest score which at the moment is Guthrie - (Guthrie score lower than Vlastin gross score).

So it is Greene + 312 v Fisher, Dahl and Tomlinson so still favour Hedgehogs.

I follow your logic ringo but in Ele's count he still had Kent and Greene on.

How does that change the points? You both have the same players on the field but vlastuin not subbed in favor of Guthrie, meaning they should have lost a further 6 points not gained 66?

Need 271 between Treloar and Hrovat then, think I might just fall short.

Thanks to Ringo for running this amazing comp!

Thanks to my partners in crime Elephants and Ricochet for their continued Hedgie spirit, support, planning and management.

Lastly, thank you to the players for stepping up when requires. Big thanks to Parker and Greenwood who continually smashed out big scores all year!

Just a reminder no Bonus in finals either.

So we congratulate the Hedgehogs on winning the premiership for 2015.
Hebden Bridge Hedgehogs 29.13.187 defeated Winchester Werewolves 25.13.163
Werewolves were decimated by injury in the latter half of the season after being some dominant early,  They will look to bounce back next year and again challenge for the title. The Hedgehogs finished the season strongly and are deserving winners of the Champions Trophy. They now have a target on their back for teams to chase down next year.

In the Patrons Plate Final.
Birmingham Dragons 25.10.160 defeated Liverpool Rams 22.14.146
Both teams were depleted by injury in the final but Dragons with their better depth were able to get over the Rams. The Dragons really finished the season strongly on the back of strong performances by their Captain Tom Rockliff and showed enough to indicate they will strongly challenge the Top 8 next season.  The Rams enjoyed a a strong season as well and they too showed they cab challenge for the 8.

I would like to thank all coaches for their participation in this competition making it enjoyable to administer,  although at times I get frustrated, for all to enjoy.

We now look forward to trading and drafting for next season and  a strong competition with a 16 team competition. I have said a number of teams competition is strong and most teams can beat each other when fielding strongest teams. To illustrate the point all teams except Steins scored more than 1700 points at least twice during the season. There were some occasions where teams scoring 1900 points were beaten.

Looking forward to now watching teams during the trading season.

We are committed to improving this team though and a nice #1 National Draft pick should help :D :D

Congrats Hebden Bridge to the loser...I think you need a ruckman - we may have one available #tradetalk

Know you are memph but just making a point that most teams can be competitive with best teams available based on this years results.

Watch that No 1 pick.

We shall watch it like a hawk. If you want it you'll have to cough up a dead set gun (and even then maybe something extra :P)
