GWS forward Jonathon Patton tears ACL, needs another knee reconstruction.

Greater Western Sydney gun forward Jonathon Patton has suffered a second serious knee injury in as many AFL seasons.

Those scans revealed the worst-case scenario for Patton - that he requires a second knee reconstruction in the space of 17 months.

Confirmed.

Terrible news for the guy.  :(

Oh flower, poor guy.  :(

Dude was having a pretty decent year and boosted his value a bit.

It's just been shot again though.  :-\

He also came into the league with a knee issue, they sent him over to Germany in his first season. I am not sure if it was the same knee but it is not a good sign regardless. Hopefully his rehab goes well and he can overcome this hurdle.

If I remember correctly, I think it is the same one (from what I remembering hearing during the coverage on 7).

Not only does it set him back a whole year, but it cuts out a lot of financial gains he could've earned

Giant Patton heads to the US

JONATHON Patton will head to Philadelphia next week to work with one of the world's leading knee specialists in a bid to boost his rehabilitation from a second reconstruction.

The 21-year-old tore his right anterior cruciate ligament tore for the second time last August, requiring a repeat of surgery first carried out in 2013.

The Greater Western Sydney forward is aiming to return to the game later this year, and is hopeful five tough days spent with sports rehabilitation specialist Bill Knowles in the US will increase his chances.

"It's going to be a tough week, but I'm looking forward to it," Patton told the club's website.

"I'll start on the Monday and finish on the Saturday, and every day it goes for seven to eight hours, so it’s going to be pretty intense training.

"It's about making a positive out of negative. I get to go overseas and work with one of the best ACL rehab guys in the world and it's something I'm really grateful for.

"The club had my best interest at heart and we both thought, 'Why not?' This way I get to go away as I didn't get to go away in the off-season, so I can't wait for it."

This is just Patton news, not injury news, but shocking news at that.

QuoteGreater Western Sydney forward Jon Patton has been taken to hospital after being king hit while holidaying in the United States.

Unprovoked. This bloke is simply unlucky, or you could say he is damn lucky to have escaped serious injury.
